Senior Advisor

Rio Tinto is one of Australia's leading mining companies with a highly successful record in developing and managing world-class open cut and underground coal operations.  As part of the way we work, we seek to build enduring relationships with our communities that are characterised by mutual respect, active partnership and long term commitment.

Rio Tinto Coal Australia's AUD$1.3 billion investment in the Kestrel Mine Extension (KME) will extend the life of the mine and increase production to an average of 5.7 million tonnes of coal a year until 2032. Kestrel Mine already has a significant presence in Queensland's Bowen Basin and this now represents a further 20 year commitment to the region for Rio Tinto Coal Australia. An outstanding opportunity exists for an ambitious individual to get involved in early construction stages as part of an owner's team and make a key contribution to building a world class future operation.

Reporting to the Construction Manager - Infrastructure, the Senior Electrical Engineer will act as the owner's representative on the Kestrel Mine Extension Project.  You will be responsible for providing technical and quality assurance delivery of all Electrical and Instrumentation scopes and specifications by the procurement and construction management contractor (PCM).  You will provide guidance and direction to the PCM contractor for the close out of engineering design, electrical equipment installations and quality of work conformance with the latest version of the Queensland Coal Mining Safety and Health Act and regulations, as well as Rio Tinto and Australian standards.

The Senior Electrical Engineer will also provide technical advice to site management and contractors regarding electrical installation and commissioning activities, review commissioning plans ensuring compliance against Rio Tinto, KME and Kestrel Standards.  You will lead a team consisting of Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineers and ICT project delivery specialists.  The ability to build strong working relationships at all levels is required to ensure timely and cost effective delivery of equipment and facilities.  You will also support the transition process from execution to operations through the development of handover packages to Kestrel operations.

In return you will be rewarded with an attractive salary commensurate to your experience, superannuation on total package, commute assistance, along with additional Rio Tinto employee benefits.
