A Senior Agricultural Commodities Analyst –is currently open for an appropriately qualified person who will provide high quality research and analysis of priority issues and trends in agricultural commodities.
This role, which reports to the General Manager - Food Agribusiness Research and Advisory, will be primarily accountable for:
- Undertaking high quality research and analysis of agricultural commodities, and support research and analysis across food and agribusiness, for use by both internal and external stakeholders
- Preparing quality research publications targeted at rural, business and corporate clients
- Preparing and delivering presentations at seminars, client functions, industry conferences and field days
- Identifying commercial opportunities within the target sector for the bank in rural, business or corporate banking, finance and mergers/acquisitions
- Undertaking strategic analysis of companies operating within the target sector, as required by internal stakeholders
- Providing research input into credit policies and proposals covering the target sector, and provide presentations to management and credit analysts as required
- Participating in strategic advisory and consultancy projects and providing media commentary as required
- Participating in sector teams for the target sector within the organisations’ international Food Agribusiness Research and Advisory division
Key skill areas will include:
- Knowledge of the Australian and/or international agricultural commodities, gained through experience in a corporate or industry, government or voluntary role and a personal interest in the food and agribusiness sector
- Sound leadership and interpersonal skills –you will have sound judgement and initiative and be communicative, approachable and supportive with team members
- Customer focus – you will be highly customer focussed, with an emphasis on delivery of valuable knowledge to internal and external customers and the ability to represent the bank to external customers from corporate, business, rural and service backgrounds
- Technical and specialist skills - strong research and analytical skills – a capacity to identify key trends ahead of others, excellent writing skills, high quality presentation and communication skills and an appreciation of financial analysis and credit evaluation processes (desirable)
- Planning and organisation – self-starter, able to plan and implement own work priorities within an agreed strategic framework in an unsupervised capacity, manage priorities in a multi-project workload, working to deadlines. Identify, plan and conduct analysis to deliver results against key strategic goals
- opQualifications and experience – it is likely that you will possess an undergraduate degree in a discipline with application in food and agribusiness – agriculture, agricultural economics, food science, commerce, business and possess at least 5 years’ work experience in a related professional role. Post graduate qualifications will also be highly valued.
