Senior Analyst

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Analyst within our Private Markets Research Team. The key focus on the role is on unlisted assets such as real estate, infrastructure, agriculture, timber and energy assets. In this role you will combine your passion for research with a focus on delivering outstanding outcomes for clients. You will interview some of the most highly respected private markets investment managers in the world, helping to form robust opinions on areas such as investment skill and the ability to meet our clients’ objectives.
The role and what we are looking for:
- Producing detailed due diligence notes on processes, teams and business to evaluate expected returns and risk distribution
- Meeting fund managers to evaluate investment teams, fund management business, investment processes and risk management
- Actively debating new ideas and investment opportunities with your global colleagues as an integral part of your research and advice
- Conducting rigorous due diligence on investment managers and strategies, incorporating quantitative and qualitative information, through a combination of desk research and face to face meetings
- Identifying, originating and further developing world class private markets investment solutions that are integral to the needs of the Australian institutional investors
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with key clients, and supporting in the design, implementation and monitoring of solutions (including multi-manager portfolios) that are customised for client needs
- Contributing to servicing clients primarily through the writing of papers, presentations on specialist topics and managers and assisting consultants in other areas of relevant client work
- Building relationships with managers, maintaining the research database and acting as a point of contact to provide information about the managers to members of the global investment practice
- Active participation in new business opportunities
Experience and Qualifications:
- At least 5 years’ experience in a role which is highly engaged with Australian institutional investors and preferably with a focus on deeply researched real assets investment strategies (real estate, infrastructure, agriculture, timber and energy assets)
- At least 3 years’ experience in undertaking extensive due diligence in respect of both managers and strategies, and preferably in real assets field.
- Outstanding knowledge of the theory and practice of institutional investments in the context of all asset classes, but with an interest in further specialising in non-traditional assets classes.
- A comprehensive knowledge of real assets strategies of relevance to Australian institutional investors.
- You are likely to have been working in investment consulting, investment management, or for an institutional fund
- Completed professional qualifications (with DFA, CAIA or equivalent)
