Senior Analyst – Analytical Development – Markets recruitment
The Analytical Development (AD) staff within the Markets Group conducts quantitative analysis of financial markets.
AD is currently seeking a Senior Analyst to develop econometric and asset pricing models for use in the ongoing analysis of financial markets, the formulation of monetary policy, and the planning and review of monetary policy implementation. Typical areas of model-based analysis include the term structure of interest rates, interest rate volatility, inflation compensation, interbank funding markets, securitized products, and foreign exchange, with a particular emphasis on the impact of monetary policy decisions on these and other asset prices.
The ideal candidate understands monetary policy, econometrics, and asset pricing, and can produce concise written analysis for senior Federal Reserve policymakers under tight deadlines. Strong interpersonal, communication, and project management skills are important qualifications, as well as being a quick study of new financial instruments and new quantitative modeling techniques.
Applicants should hold an advanced degree in finance, economics, or other relevant field, and have experience performing quantitative analysis on financial market data.
Job Responsibilities:
· Lead projects to develop and implement models for use in ongoing market analysis and the planning and review of monetary policy implementation, working closely with Markets Group staff covering foreign exchange, fixed income, equity, credit, mortgage, and money markets
· Lead research projects focused on timely market and policy developments, published for audiences throughout the Federal Reserve System
· Advise Markets Group staff on the application of econometric methods, calculation of market expectations implied by financial instruments, and modeling of asset prices
· Collaborate with colleagues in FRBNY Research and at the Board of Governors
· Remain current on relevant economic and finance literature and developments pertaining to financial markets and monetary policy
· Some time may be permitted for relevant fundamental research
Skills
Job Requirements:
· Graduate degree in finance, economics, or related discipline
· Proven experience in applying econometric methods to the study of financial asset prices and/or to optimizing outcomes in the trading of financial products
· An understanding of macroeconomics and the role of the Federal Reserve in the economy
· Ability to structure, maintain, and analyze large time series and panel data sets
· Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to explain complex issues and make clear recommendations to senior Federal Reserve audiences
· Sound organizational skills, including the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
· Experience with one or more of the following: Matlab, Stata, SAS, EViews
· A sincere interest in public service
This position requires access to FOMC information, which is limited to 'Protected Individuals' as defined in the U.S. federal immigration law.
