Senior Analyst – Exchange Market Operators recruitment
ASIC is Australia's corporate, markets and financial services regulator. The Financial Economy Group is responsible for protecting investors and consumers and improving confidence in financial market integrity. We achieve this through our Financial Economy Stakeholder and Deterrence teams.
Exchange Market Operators supervises financial markets and clearing settlement Facilities; examines new market and clearing settlement proposals; conducts annual assessments of market operators; deals with other ongoing structural issues about markets including providing advice to Government.
If you have strong analytical research skills and have had exposure to a regulatory environment this could be the ideal position for you.
Main duties include:
- Providing high level advice and assessment of complex markets matters and providing possible approaches or solutions to issues detected by ASIC.
- Assess applications for approval of financial markets, clearing and settlement facilities, applications for exemption for the relevant provisions of the legislation, and notification of changes to the operating rules of licensees
- Undertaking research on novel policy issues relating to Australian financial markets (including international comparison research).
- Developing and maintaining key internal and external relationships with stakeholders and market operators.
- Providing guidance on technical and policy issues to team members across the Group.
- Mentoring and technically training team members to encourage appropriate levels of research and/or analysis of issues to achieve a high standard of work. Leading professional development of staff initiatives as required.
This position is based in Sydney but with the possibility of being Melbourne based depending on the successful candidate's preference participating in, and where required, lead multi-skilled teams.
