UIT exists to provide a wide range of information technology services to York’s faculty, staff and students in support of the University’s academic, research and administrative goals.
In this excellent full-time job opportunity the Senior Application Analyst/Developer will provide senior-level support for one or more of York's Enterprise systems and will be primarily responsible for the integration between the PeopleSoft Financials and HCM systems and other applications. This includes identifying and analyzing business requirements, translating requirements to technical specifications, designing and developing solutions using appropriate development tools ensuring that the systems are available and functioning efficiently, troubleshooting production problems, providing technical support to users, developing custom modules and systems, and modifying and upgrading software. To be the UIT expert on the technical aspects of one or more applications and to be responsible for the final resolution of all technical problems related to those applications. In addition, the incumbent will research, recommend and participate in developing strategic direction and initiatives for administrative applications within the department and communicate with client groups and coordinate technical design sessions to ensure that client business needs are met. The incumbent provides leadership and expertise in the performance of work driven by user business needs.
Knowledge:
Formal training in and/or advanced knowledge of PeopleTools, Application Engine, PeopleCode, SQR, AWE and Ingegration Broker. Knowledge of reporting tools such as XML Publisher or Crystal Reports. Understand and utilize design analysis tools, including data flow diagrams. An excellent understanding of Oracle and SQL. Knowledge of standard desktop applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
Education:
University degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field.
Experience:
7-10 years related work experience in a programming role which includes some experience in program analysis and business design, Experience in a client server environment as well as several years experience developing and/or support of several applications simultaneously; demonstrated skills in multiple programming languages, including Oracle PeopleSoft development tools, Java and PL/SQL; must be proficient using these tools with Oracle databases; thorough understanding of relational database design in a customer relationship management environment involving detailed demographic/biographic and financial data. Prefered experience in a Higher Education environment, with Oracle PeopleSoft Financials or HCM would be an asset.

Exceptional communication and writing skills in order to communicate technical ideas both verbally and in writing to technical and non- technical audiences, and to provide documentation of procedures. Excellent analytic and problem solving skills in order to resolve problems with the systems that are frequently unclear and complicated. Excellent interpersonal skills in working with clients to define business needs and resolve problems. Ability to work well with others and to provide leadership in team settings. Must be able to set priorities among competing demands and work under the pressure of high volume and unanticipated work loads. Good organizational and supervisory skills; strong customer service orientation; effective motivational and diplomatic skills appropriate to large and complex organizations; presentation and facilitative skills; proven ability to exercise good judgment and initiative. Ability to work with ill-defined Client specifications to access clients requirements.
