Senior Application Engineer
The opportunity
As a senior application engineer you will work in a team with IT specialists and business analysts that provide solutions for global IT projects. The team is building operational systems for the Finance Division which is used to generate accounting and reporting information.
You will manage and coach a nearshore team, delegate 'hands on' work and supervise architecture and concepts. With your experience in taking project responsibilities you feel comfortable in deputizing the IT team leader in discussions and project management tasks.
Analyzing, designing and implementing high-end applications on the mainframe with interfaces to the data warehouse and other underwriter/actuary systems will be one of your main task. Beside that you will be involved in the operational support and maintenance of the application.
About you
University or similar degree in computer science, science or mathematics with high level of IT qualification.
Understand and challenge business requirements and transform these into technical designs.
Proven experience in Object-Oriented software development (Java, JEE, Eclipse, Spring, Hibernate, Maven, XML) on business applications (preferable in the finance / insurance sector).
Design and maintenance of relational data model and databases (DB2 in place). Experience with huge data volumes is an advantage.
Open to work (analyze, understand, replace) with legacy systems (Cobol).
A high degree of independence and quality awareness as well as target-oriented working methods.
Team-player, willingness to contribute actively to the overall team spirit.
Ability and enthusiasm to work in a global and multicultural environment.
Grasp new concepts quickly, see the big picture and apply ideas to specific situations.
Strong command of English language verbal and written.
