Posted Position Title: Senior Applied Statistician Career Level: Experienced Function Engineering/Technology Function Segment: Product Design and Development Location: United States U.S. State, China or Canada Provinces: Massachusetts City: Lynn Postal Code: 01910-0002 Relocation Assistance Yes Role Summary/Purpose: The Senior Applied Statistician will provide applied statistics problem solving leadership on a wide range of data analysis efforts and initiatives. In this role, you will utilize applied statistical techniques to solve internal and external customer engineering / business problems. You will also build and maintain applied stats expertise by advancing the state of the art in statistical techniques and mentoring / coaching other members of the engineering community. Essential Responsibilities - Lead efficient statistical analysis of engineering and manufacturing process issues - Provide timely recommendations that meet technical and program requirements - Support development of risk analysis for field events. Recommend customer field action plans that will meet program and technical requirements - Determine appropriate statistical techniques for specific issues, execute accurate analyses and provide clear link between statistical results and physics - Support efforts to address / improve engineering / manufacturing / business processes - Leverage and institutionalize statistical lessons learned across multiple initiatives - Lead development of statistical tools to improve productivity - Provide statistical guidance to other personnel and assigned teams; mentor others in the organization - Ensure proper documentation of technical data is generated for the assigned projects and / or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures - Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments - Lead or participate in organizational efforts in assigned projects and / or tasks - Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews Qualifications/Requirements: - Bachelor's Degree of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science - Minimum of 8 years of experience in an Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering position Additional Eligibility Qualifications GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Desired Characteristics - Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering / statistical tools and systems - Strong oral and written communication skills - Strong interpersonal and leadership skills - Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certified (GE employees only) - Masters Degree and / or Ph.D. in Applied Statistics or Industrial Engineering from an accredited university or college - Strong manufacturing process knowledge - Strong personal computer (PC) proficiency (Excel (advanced user), Minitab or JMP, PowerPoint, Word, Oracle Systems, etc.) Why join one great company when you can join many?
