Senior Associate – Business Development recruitment
The Department
The EMEA Business Development Group's primary objective is to promote Moody's fundamental, structured finance, and managed funds rating services The group develops and executes marketing programmes and product development initiatives in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) in close cooperation with the rating groups and regional management. The EMEA region comprises 128 independent countries, including the Eurozone and various important domestic capital markets. Additional responsibilities for the group are the management of affiliate operations, the development of National Rating Scales and coordination on new product development.
The Role
The Senior Associate will be supporting senior members in the team to grow mandates and revenue in territory regions.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Outreach/Market Outreach:
- Review press and competitive position and keep team updated.
- Undertake credit and research analysis on potential target clients and their likelihood of requiring a rating.
- Prepare promotional materials.
- Handle calling program for targets and intermediaries to secure meetings.
- Attend target client meetings and execute follow-up.
- Co-ordinate internal and external meetings and diary management, using conference call/video conferencing facilities where necessary
Negotiation Fees and TC:
- Prepare and track standard engagement documents for clients.
- Enter and track relevant pricing exception.
- Participate in pricing discussion with clients under supervision of Manager.
Data Quality Reporting:
- Responsible for timely input of data in various systems.
- Responsible for timely filing of all required documentation.
- Find ways to streamline and integrate IT/system to facilitate seamless process from signing to rating.
- Provide data on request for reporting.
Billing / GMO Collections:
- Communicate effectively with Billing/GMO/Collections to facilitate resolution of queries and outstanding issues to enable issuers to pay invoices in a timely fashion.
- Escalate any issues or problems to BD manager (colleagues) in a timely fashion to ensure timely and effective resolution.
Experience
- Relevant work experience in finance services industry is essential
- Experience in selling/business development/client relationships is essential.
- Good knowledge about capital markets and countries within EMEA region
Qualifications
- Strong academic background (BSc / MSc degree) required preferably in related field (Economics, Finance, Accounting)
- Financial and statistical research capabilities
Key Skills - Technical
- Well developed IT skills including advanced Microsoft Office applications, Powerpoint and Advanced Excel
- Good knowledge of general information systems
Key Skills – Non Technical
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to understand capital markets, ratings, legal and compliance matters
- Ability to develop selling and negotiation skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong professional relationships at all levels

Languages
- Fluency in English is essential. Fluency in French or one other European language would be highly beneficial.
