Senior Business Analyst - Fixed Income - Abu Dhabi - 6 Month Contract - c£800
Our client is a global conglomerate and investment organisation with interests across the full financial product suite.
You will be the IT focal point for the Fixed Income Treasury Department, responsible for linking both departments to develop and support IT solutions.
You will demonstrate solid domain knowledge of the fixed income and treasury business along with a detailed understanding of the full life cycle of the investment and trading process such as portfolio construction, trading strategies, valuation and risk management.
You will be experienced in man management and co-ordinating the delivery of small projects, in particular those requiring input from external suppliers.
Domain Expertise
- Has experience of supporting, implementing and enhancing vendor based IT solutions for fixed income buy side firms.
- Has a detailed understanding of the typical investment life cycle.
- Ideally has a good understanding of downstream process steps as executed by back and middle office functions.
- Has experience with market standard risk and performance management tools (e.g. Barclays POINT, FACTSET, Risk Metrics) and the various methodologies they support for managing risk, performance and attribution.
- As well as experience with traditional fixed income securities, some experience of designing solutions for fixed income derivatives is required (e.g. IRS, CDS).
Solution Delivery Orientation
- Extensive experience of taking business requirements, translating these into system solutions.
- Has experience of proactively identifying areas for improvement (e.g. improved control environment, streamlined processes, improved data to support decision making) and working with relevant stakeholders to implement these.
- Has structured problem solving skills that can be used to resolve complex production issues or find ways to communicate and deliver business solutions
Leadership
- Experienced manager of front office IT staff, used to mentoring and developing staff.
- Skilled at managing teams of IT staff engaged in the successful delivery of projects.
- Able to identify the appropriately skilled resources to deliver against the agreed work plan.
- Comfortable working with QA and release teams and the business to ensure that new developments are introduced with minimal detrimental business impact.
Education and Experience
Education
- Must have a Bachelors degree in a relevant subject.
- preferably hold additional qualifications and accreditations (e.g. MSc in Finance related subject; successful completion of some or all CFA levels)
Experience
- Minimum of 7 years experience working with fixed income IT systems in a front office buy side firm.
- An advantage would be experience of working on back office and middle office systems in a buy side firm
- Ideally has some IT technical background but can demonstrate an understanding of systems architectures
- Can deliver work using appropriate project methodologies
