Product Development and Strategy (PDS) is linked to two of the mainstays of Group strategy, namely actively managing the cycle for profit and optimizing organic and transactional growth.
Analytical Services Tools unit is in charge of providing global actuarial services to all product divisions. Actuarial Serv. Single Risk Large Deals unit primarily addresses the actuarial needs of the Americas, with particular focus on reinsurance, commercial insurance and SRIS. Product Strategy see below.
Unit
In partnership with the business Product Strategy identifies, analyses and monitors key business drivers in support of Swiss Re Corporate functions. Our analysis is used for internal target setting and planning, defining an optimal underwriting portfolio structure helping to steer effectively through the reinsurance business cycle. In addition we help the client facing part of the organisation with facts and business solutions to reflect latest market developments such as Solvency II. Product Strategy operates based on four dedicated teams. We strive to provide a one-stop-shop for our clients, collaborating intensively with core experts throughout all of Swiss Re.
Job Description
The position holder acts in the interface between Client Markets Underwriting and other functions like Risk Management, Group Issue Management and Finance units. Building and utilizing a strong network with those units is a key mandate in order to identify future trends, to analyze their impact on SR's business model products and to develop new business opportunities. Key clients are Client Markets and Underwriting.
The position asks to monitor ongoing developments in the financial industry like Solvency II or IFRS and to identify potential threats and opportunities for Swiss Re. Giving advise to SR's top management advisory boards is a major task of the role.
Establish a network process to identify and monitor future trends in the financial industry
Lead the idea generation analytics in respect of ongoing future trends to identify threats opportunities for SR
Steer the generation process for new reinsurance solution together with other functions, taking into account SR's risk appetite guidelines (including pricing referral processes) and insurance market preparedness
Develop marketing material and analytical tools (eg Excel spreadsheets) to support the origination process
Support client interactions increase SR's external visibility by providing the technical content for client meetings, conferences trainings
Take care of internal preparedness by providing concepts content for internal conferences, trainings, etc
Insure internal readiness by maintaining and improving effective communication and knowledge exchange among all stakeholders which are key to product developments including regular updates to the top management or advisory boards
Requirements
Strong background in reinsurance (minimum 10 years experience), ideally client markets, products underwriting, risk management, capital management corporate finance
Strong understanding of market trends within the financial insurance industry
Above average understanding of Swiss Re business model and product range
Strong analytical background and proven skill to apply this in support of new reinsurance solutions
Excellent Excel skills
Strong project management experience, used to deal with virtual teams across all hierarchical, and organizational levels of the organization.
Ability to prioritize and to think 'out-of-the-box'
Well established communication and presentation skill
Fluency in English, additional languages of advantage
