Senior Business Systems Analyst – Trading recruitment

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Senior Business Systems Analyst - Trading performs with minimal direction a variety of roles in the creation and maintenance of large enterprise wide/global complex solutions (including data infrastructure, reporting, and applications) that address the informational and analytical needs of the Investment Management, Investment Research, Global Trading, or Global Investment and Institutional Client Services (GICS) divisions. These roles stem from all phases of the project lifecycle and include requirements gathering, solution design, application development, and system testing. The Senior Business Systems Analyst - Trading acts as a consultant and partner with the Investment Business Community, Global Investment and Institutional Client Services (GICS), and Global Business Solutions and Technology (GBST) project teams to ensure that all business requirements are understood, documented, and executed upon. 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Works closely with Investment Staff and/or Global Investment and Institutional Client Services (GICS) managers to expose informational, analytical, or workflow-optimizing needs. Regularly and independently interacts with business partners of varying associate/management levels to ensure clarity of the problem/opportunity and elicit business requirements. Estimates the size of the effort required to complete complex enterprise wide/global scale projects, and strategizes with them for future needs.  

Designs, prototypes, implements, and maintains products that address business needs and achieve enterprise wide/global strategic goals. This may include analyzing, researching, processing and administering investment data; analyzing, developing and deploying reports; and analyzing, designing, creating, and testing software applications. 

Provides consultancy and advice on functionality, applicability and usability of solutions (process and/or technology) to project requirements.  Recognizes and manages business trade-offs and market pressures.  Works with business partners to assess related business process changes and impact to users/clients.  Guides business partners to ensure communication and organizational preparedness activities occur to address changes as a result of process and/or system changes.  Identifies opportunities to improve current processes and act as a champion to change within the business analysis practice.  

Builds and sustains trusted partnerships and relationships across business and technical functions and external organizations.  Interacts with all management and associate levels to understand problems and opportunities as well as to communicate ideas, strategies and solutions.  Represents the sponsor in further phases of projects identified in conceptualization.  Facilitates communications between GBST and the business.  Works closely with portfolio managers, quantitative analyst, investment analyst, traders, and/or investment operations managers to develop solutions to be used by the investment associates. Utilizes strong knowledge of both Investments and data to influence the business. Defines the solution scope and develops the business case to justify the investment necessary to deliver a proposed solution.  Incorporates understanding of the business architecture of the organization being analyzed including the organizational structure and relationships that exist between business units to provide guidance on project approach, potential solutions to various project, and problems and opportunities.  Stays abreast of business strategy and needs and technology leveraged by the business channels they support and leverage that information in support of the business.  Proactively monitors industry trends (both financial and software).              

Reviews requirements for multiple projects, ensures that documentation is consistent and falls within the standards of the solution delivery methodology.  Mentors associates on software development methodologies best practices, business analysis tools, industry knowledge.  Evaluates trends and metrics from production support/application management to help guide the business on future projects and initiatives.  Evaluates post deployment issues and success to apply best practices to future initiatives.            

Assists in the support of systems, including taking responsibility for the resolution of large enterprise wide/global complex on-call issues, monitoring the system, and communicating with the vendors regarding problems, to ensure the system is functioning. Investigates, diagnoses, isolates, and de-bugs issues and performs problem resolution.  Documents resolution appropriately.  Escalates issue to Solutions Consultants, Sr. Solutions Consultants, Project Leads, or Project Managers if a solution cannot be determined.  

Continuously seeks to expand knowledge of Investments practice and theory to create efficiencies and/or mitigate risk via people/process/technology changes for the business. 

Mentors and coaches less experienced Solutions Analysts/Sr. Solutions Analysts, and less experienced associates across the firm.
