Currently we are seeking individuals for the following position:

 

Senior Buyer

 

Senior Buyer Job Responsibilities

·       Lead/train new buyers and engineers in Engineering and Advance Purchasing process model

·       Adheres to unit and Corporate purchasing policies and procedures

·       Negotiate with suppliers and prepare recommendation forms

·       Ensure the suppliers remain in the best in Q, S, T, P throughout the life of the contract

·       Complete all requirements of AP to GS hand-off checklist

·       Issue nomination contract-ensure that the proper people receive copies

·       Communicate to suppliers, client supplier quality requirements/expectations with regard to PPAP approvals, PPM ratings, etc.

·       Develop an in-depth product and process knowledge base about the commodity and supplier base including thorough understanding of the entire value added chain and cost drivers through suppliers workshops/advance discovery days, plant visits, technical reviews, international contracts, benchmarking activity, etc.

·       Develop commodity, system and source strategies for office in coordination with creativity team and production buyer

·       Accelerate the evaluation and implementation of new technology and viable low cost alternatives

·       Guard against restrictive requirements that constrain supplier alternatives, low cost solutions and innovation

·       Quote alternative designs and solutions

·       Negotiate and leverage lifetime/long term agreements

·       Initiate/participate in supplier assessment visits with SQA, PEM, DRE's, etc

 

Senior Buyer Skills Required to be considered:

·       Knowledge in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint – Intermediate level

·       Knowledge with Lotus Notes or other email communication tool – Intermediate level

·       Good interpersonal skills involving ability to work effectively cross-functionally and cross-culturally

·       Good written and oral communication skills necessary for meetings and presentations

·       Ability to work well with others, exhibiting teamwork skills

·       Partners with senior management to analyze and solve issues

·       Ability to multitask by handling diverse assignments concurrently

·       Ability to read blueprints and to understand basic engineering documents

·       Knowledge of commodities, materials and products being purchased

·       Position related experience – 5-7 years

·       Relevant auto industry experience required - Entry level (

·       Areas of expertise include: Purchasing

 

Senior Buyer Minimum Education Required:

·       Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance or related Field or equivalent experience
