Senior Buyer/Purchasing Manager Job in Shreveport, Louisiana US
Our client, a major producer of Building Products, is seeking a Senior Buyer. This individual will purchase for 2-3 Wood Products plants, and will be a part of the Corporate Purchasing Staff and reports to the Regional Procurement Manager.
We are looking for a experienced individual who is highly motivated, a self starter and someone who is capable of working without direct supervision.
Activities include Contract negotiatons with suppliers and manufacturers, purchasing of materials and services outside of the the day to day requirements.
Recommend and Pre-Qualify suppliers based on safety, quality and service.
Prepare and publish specifications for bids, evaluate bid responses, verify history of supplier service and their ability to meet contract specification.
This person wil be very involved in Capital Projects and will source a wide variety of commodities and services and provide project support to Maintenance and Engineering personnel.
Provide procurement functions for goods and services utilizing SAP and Maximo systems.
College degree or eight years experience in purchasing. A background in Forest Products manufacturing is highly preferred.
Experience in bidding, negotiating, and preparing contracts and agreements.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
