Commodities Technology plays a key role in the firm’s Commodities business achieving its leading market position. The team’s key challenge is to provide scalable technology across one of the most diverse product sets in the firm. The Commodities Technology team has had many achievements, including the development of a leading-edge eTrading platform, a derivatives trading and risk platform which leverages technology from other technology groups, and a flexible system supporting the Custom Index business. The team is also developing a leading-edge platform to facilitate base and precious metals trading.

The person will need to provide technical leadership as well as manage a team of 6-7 developers, building new regulatory systems across the Commodities business. They will work closely with other global development teams as well as building strong relationships with the business both in Singapore and London. They will be central in cultivating a high quality ethos and will be involved in all aspects of the development lifecycle.Main Duties• Technical Lead for a team of 6-7 developers in Singapore to build solutions for the global Commodities regulatory programme
• Architect and design solutions which are consistent with the team’s strategic technology direction and can be delivered within required time scales• Lead and actively participate in the full software development lifecycle including analysis, development, testing and release processes• Work closely with other commodities development teams based in London, NY and India• Able to build strong relationships with senior management and business stakeholders to ensure that the new systems meet the regulatory requirements Person RequirementsTechnical: • +10 years IT experience with very strong C# development skills - must be able to demonstrate extensive use during past 6 years
• Strong architectural and design skills, the ability to design within a larger vision and architecture and justify design decisions to an audience with varying agendas
• Exposure to Design Patterns
• Experience with SQL Server
• Experience with XML
• Experience with Messaging
• Understand automated build process and associated quality measures Team Leadership:• Able to lead a development team of around six people and coordinate tasks to ensure an end to end solution is developed with no gaps. • Team player who can balance individual objectives with those of the team • Strong communicator who will use both verbal and written communication with team members, other members of IT and business stakeholders. Able to influence others to achieve win-win outcomes • Able to review work undertaken or being planned by others, highlight issues and recommend solution Person Requirements:• Investment banking background essential, Commodity business knowledge preferred • A grasp of trading terms and an understanding of the trade life-cycle • Someone with an innovative approach to their work• Demonstrate the ability to work to tight deadlines and maintain high quality standards• Understand security, auditing and support requirements of enterprise applications• Discuss and resolve complex design issues and problems with conflicting technical/business requirements • A focus on delivery and meeting deadlines
Basic Qualifications: • Solid knowledge of financial markets and products (Forwards, swaps, options) • Numerate degree in Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or Computing
