SENIOR CALCULATIONS METHODOLOGY ANALYST
Finance methodology is responsible for defining and delivering the key business processes, controls, MI, and the underlying supporting finance and actuarial systems. The purpose of this is to provide the core accounting, financial analysis, controls data, capital calculations capability and valuation capability to the Finance division and throughout the company. This function is responsible for the sign-off of all calculations used throughout the company.
The role will interact closely with Actuarial experts, marketing, customer services, IT and Change to ensure that calculations are appropriately specified, and that the application of those calculations has been done to acceptable standards.
Core Responsibilities:
- The provision of accurate and timely definitions.
- Ability to autonomously manage conflicting priorities within very tight deadlines.
- Participation in negotiations within corporate priority programmes to ensure deliveries are understood, timely and of appropriate quality.
- Achieve credibility with senior Actuarial/Finance managers, business managers and technical IT staff.
- Cross team communications and co-ordination to ensure that the needs of the programmes as related to calculations methodology are understood and taken into account by other key personnel working within the programme.
- Ensure that calculations specification remain within a compliant framework for the administration of products.
- Ensure that calculations development is aligned to the defined plan for any product developments.
- Ensure previously reviewed and signed off spreadsheets continue ongoing validity within the workplace.
- Understand the propositional intention for offering product to the clients and ensuring that the calculation requirements within the proposition are clearly detailed within the proposition.
- Ensuring that calculations used throughout the policy lifecycle, and particularly those used in Key features/Quotes, projections etc are appropriate and accurate. This therefore has a very direct impact on customer.
- The creation of formal Calculations specifications to such a level that they can be used by IT and Testing resource alike in their building of the necessary systems.
- Participate as required in the quality assurance of new calculation specifications, within the team, to ensure their accuracy.
- Ensure that all the relevant aspects of the calculations are covered by the suggested business scenarios and test cases, and that test evidence is quality assured. This will involve contribution via peer review to the work of others.
- Participate as required in the quality assurance of testing spreadsheets created by the testing area (based on the calculations specifications) to ensure that they accurately reflect the calculations specifications and therefore are fit for purpose in the testing and ultimate sign off of our core systems.
- To progressively ensure that existing systems are performing the required calculations correctly.
- Develop and deliver improved methodologies for calculations, working with IT, Change and other business partners as necessary, to design and build appropriate systems for the management of our calculations.

Core Requirements:
- Deep understanding of life and pensions products.
- Deep understanding of the concepts of calculations within Life and Pension products.
- Experience of mathematically based analytics.
- Experience of calculation specification.
- Experience within Life and Pensions environment.
- Exposure to Project management.
- Graduate (hons).
- Ideally suited to Part Qualified Actuary.
