Working under minimal supervision, maintains mammalian and/or primary cell lines and tissues to be used in preclinical (In Vivo) experiments. Includes the preparation of cell culture media and other reagents. Incumbent also performs associated procedures such as immunoassays and cell isolations. The incumbent also performs routine laboratory maintenance and tasks including but not limited to ensuring workstation and laboratory cleanliness, collecting data, keeping detailed accurate records, preparing reports and ordering supplies. The incumbent may have dotted line supervisory responsibilites. Works with team members to ensure that cell lines/cells/tissues are prepared in order to meet project timelines.
Required Skills
- Maintain mammalian and/or primary cell lines and tissues to be used in preclinical (In Vivo) experiments
- Perform validation experiments to demonstrate established and reproducibility of cell lines/tissues by following standard procedures and assists on execution of In Vivo studies
- Perform cell related procedures including but not limited to immunoassays and cell isolations
- Perform routine equipment maintenance
- Collect and keep detailed accurate record data pertinent to cell cultlure laboratory. Assist in data analysis and organization of data according to prescribed format. Prepare ad hoc reports as required
- Collaborate with team members to ensure that cell lines/cells are prepared in order to meet project timelines
Required Experience
- Knowledge of cell biology, mathematics, and chemistry as would be acquired through a BS degree in Cell Biology or related field is required. Other means of acquring this background may be evaluated on a case-by-case basis
- At least two years experience working in a laboratory environment is required. Must have working knowledge of sterile techniques, safety, quality systems and quality assurance concepts. Experience in/with oncology and or/stem cells is considered a plus. Experience with flow cytometry applications and/or other cellular immunoassays is a plus
- Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills and demonstrated attention to detail
- Ability to collect and accurately keep detailed records. Ability to analyze and organize data and prepare reports
- Ability to troubleshoot and maintain required laboratory equipment
- Ability to meet strict deadlines and to adapt to frequent changes in schedules and priorities
- Ability and willingness to function effectively in a team environment
- Ability to effectively and clearly communicate with a diverse group of scientists and manage multiple projects in a customer needs-sensitive environment
- Ability to operate computer hardware and software that would normally be encountered in a laboratory/business setting
