JOB DESCRIPTION

Primary Function/Goals/Objectives:
Under the supervision of the Manager of Clinical Budget Analysis, the Sr. Clinical Analyst performs financial and resource analyses, forecasts, and budgetary reconciliation of the Ex-US Investigator Grants component of clinical trial budgets for one or more Therapeutic Areas. Utilizes multiple financial and reporting systems including: Quantum, eR/OSS, IMPACT, and investigator budget determining software. Collects, summarizes, consolidates and verifies data from multiple sources for confirmation of budget source, variance from planned budget, monthly budget tracking, reporting and reconciliation as well as regular aggregate review. Facilitates interpretation and understanding of data. Identifies issues, cost savings and adjustments. Interfaces with International Clinical Field Operations study management teams, Finance, Clinical Project Teams, CPRM, Abbott Affiliates, Clinical Research Organizations, and other functional areas to ensure full accountability of clinical study budgets.

Major Responsibilities:
1. Manages the clinical grant portion of the R/OSS for all ex-US investigators including Grant Plan administration across ICFO and addresses regional cost variations.

2. Oversight and confirmation of entries into financial databases and systems (Quantum,/IMPACT)

3. Initiates and facilitates R/OSS Revision Analysis based on major changes within a clinical trial that impact investigator grant budget and spend.

4. Facilitates R/OSS currency conversion accountability.

5. Utilizes Quantum to perform trend analyses (Actual Spent vs Accrual and Actual vs Projected enrollment) for clinical trials on a regular basis as well as projections (forecasts) on Investigator Grant Costs at specified times based on final contract amount and enrollment.

6. Performs reconciliation of Ex-US Investigator Grants component of clinical trial budgets in conjunction with the overall study budget on an as-requested basis.

7. Gathers data from a variety of sources and prepares routine and ad hoc reports in support of financial and budget tracking. Communicates with Affiliate representatives, International Clinical Field Operations (CFO), CROs, and other groups as needed for information, discrepancy and issue resolution. Provides ad-hoc analyses requested from Clinical Project Team or CPRM Team as requested.

SKILLS

BS with appropriate job-specific experience. Minimum of 5 years experience in business and/or clinical research required. Prefer Pharmaceutical or CRO experience. Requires ability to understand scientific, financial, business facts and metrics. Familiarity with basic finance and accounting processes and techniques, as well as Abbott budgeting processes and systems strongly desirable. Expertise in MS Office applications, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint required. Candidates should be flexible, and have good analytical, organizational and team skills.
BS in Business/Finance or Scientific field with appropriate job-specific experience. Minimum of 5 years combined experience in business or clinical development required.
