JOB SUMMARY

 

Responsible for the support and maintenance of web applications related to rate revisions for existing and new states.  Position includes maintaining existing applications, adding new features and enhancements plus new product development and roll outs.

 

This developer will provide input related to major department projects. Assist management in architecture decisions.  Must have a background in architecting large-scale complex web applications and developing project documentation to support those plans.  Help management with long-term planning and aid in the development of training initiatives for the Web Applications group.

 

In this role you will also act as a mentor to the less senior programmers in the group.  Work independently with little supervision.  Handle multiple critical projects simultaneously.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

·        Ten plus years of experience developing software applications.

·        Five plus years of experience developing and maintaining high-volume customer-facing web applications.

·        Must have expert-level proficiency in Cold Fusion application development.

·        Proficient in client-side scripting in Javascript (jQuery experience preferred) and styling using CSS.

·        Solid knowledge and understanding of object-oriented programming principles, best practices, and the software development life cycle.

·        Demonstrated ability to work under the pressure of project deadlines and production support.

·        Effective written and oral communication skills.

 

DESIRABLE OR SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

·        Modern CFML frameworks, specifically experience with ColdSpring and Mach-II preferred.

·        Experience with MVC development as it relates to CFML.

·        Experience in the Property and Casualty Insurance Industry with emphasis on Non-Standard Auto Insurance.

·        Expert in SQL preferred (with strong knowledge of query performance optimization, joins and their restrictions, proper use of indices, views, and knowledge of all index and key types).

·        General familiarity with the JVM as it relates to performance of CFML applications.

·        Experience using Microsoft Project, ColdFusion 9, enterprise-level database (experience with DB2 a plus), Java, Visual Studio .NET or prior versions, source control software (CVS, Aldon, or similar).

 

EDUCATION | CERTIFICATIONS

 

·        Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business with an emphasis on Information Services or related area, or equivalent experience.

·        Certification in ColdFusion a plus.

·        Sun certification or exposure to Java is desirable.
