Role Summary:
The Benefit Communication Strategy Consultant is responsible for leading the Culture of health strategic planning and execution of internal communication programs for the Whirlpool Corporation Benefit team. This position requires partnering with the Whirlpool Benefits team including the Global Benefits Communication Specialist, as well as with the Whirlpool Corporate Communications team, Division Communicators and other internal and external stakeholders and partners.
Role Responsibilities:
- Annually create and execute an exciting, attention-grabbing Culture of Health communication plan and strategy that aligns with the benefit team, division and corporate communication needs
- Provide thought leadership to the Benefits team regarding communications messaging, initiatives and vehicles that will deliver a unified Culture of Health message to a diverse and geographically-distributed workforce
- Plan and execute internal communication programs for the Benefits team, coordinating with the Global Benefits Specialist, on a broad range of initiatives from the Culture of Health strategy including but not limited to personal messaging, broad group messaging, channel messaging, change management, large event planning and marketing, reporting of results, and internal benefit communications to employees and plan members
- Support, as appropriate, benefit communication vehicles including but not limited to the Whirlpool portal, Whirlpool partner portals, and newsletters supported by the Whirlpool Benefits team and external partners
- Establish planned, predictable processes for communicating ROI to leadership and HR colleagues (HR Business Partners, HR divisional corporate leadership, Senior Whirlpool leadership) utilizing multiple channels delivered in quality formats
- Partner closely with internal and external communications colleagues to ensure alignment of messaging and coordination of processes for timely, consistent and compelling communication to all stakeholders
- Develop and implement a plan to measure the effectiveness of internal communication vehicles with the goal of demonstrating business impact and identifying areas for continuous improvement
- Through a range of communication vehicles, articulate and demonstrate the vision and purpose of the Benefits team, the investment in health, wealth productivity being made by Whirlpool, as well as the successes and challenges of implementing the Culture of Health
- Collaborate with Global Benefits Specialist to relate the implementation of specific Benefits communication projects and processes to Corporate and Division Communicators
- Participate in weekly Benefits Meetings and project meetings with other key stakeholders as needed
Minimum Qualifications and Role Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s degree preferred in Communications, Advertising, Marketing or Public Relations. Agency experience is a plus.
- Experience in a corporate setting and a minimum of 10 years of relevant communications experience, as well as demonstrated "hands-on" expertise in developing and successfully managing a comprehensive internal communications program with a diverse work population
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic communications council across multiple leadership teams, a wide range of management levels, hourly and salaried manufacturing populations, and across divisions/departments
- Ability to develop and manage budgets
- Ability to successfully work cross-functionally and manage third party vendors
- PC proficiency in Microsoft Office products as well as knowledge/experience utilizing or creation of communications utilizing publishing, personal messaging, video and basic social media platforms
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and presentation skills
- Demonstrated personal initiative, responsibility and time prioritization skills and desire to work in a team-oriented culture
- Self-starter, able to work independently and possesses an entrepreneurial spirit; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives.
