Senior Compliance Officer

Top European Banking group requires a Senior Compliance Monitoring officer to join their business in London.

Job Purpose/Summary:
To assist in providing a comprehensive Compliance function within the London branch, focussing on Compliance reviews.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
• Perform desk reviews in accordance with the desk review procedures as prioritised in the compliance review plan (updated in accordance with compliance risk assessment and additional risks identified) in the London branch, and, as appropriate, cross border for head office or other branches
• Assist with compliance risk assessments to identify relevant compliance risks relating to all desks and support and control functions in London Branch, and escalate these risks as appropriate
• Assist with thematic reviews performed in the London branch, and, as appropriate, cross border for head office or other branches
• Work with the wider Compliance Team as well as CIB Compliance to ensure the compliance review plan remains reflective of FSA requirements as well as and industry wide themes.
• Prepare management information and reporting
• Escalate immediately to Head of Compliance Reviews if remediation work and changes are not implemented within the given timeframe
• Work with the business units to develop a good understanding of their strategy, services and products
• Maintain a good understanding of compliance issues in a wholesale/investment bank
• Escalate any material Front Office issues during monitoring process to Head of Compliance Reviews
• Assist with ad hoc special investigations on regulatory incidents / complaints, dealing errors and potential breaches
• Assist with audit visits and investigations or queries from the FSA
• Develop recommendations for corrective actions and work with the business and senior management on appropriate action plans
• Ensure that compliance documentation and procedures in respect of the monitoring area are regularly reviewed and updated
• Identify any front office training needs and provide input into the compliance training programme
• Draft and liaise with the IT department the requirements for the production of exception reports in respect of compliance monitoring procedures
• Undertake other areas of work as detailed by Senior Management and/or Head of Compliance which may include assisting in the analysis of new rules or regulations and assessing the compliance implications of new products
• Keep abreast of UK, EU and relevant international regulatory and exchange updates
• Other ad hoc projects as required

Managerial: (people management responsibilities, planning, resourcing, process/ workflow management and improvement, budget responsibilities, etc.)
Oversight of junior staff to assist in developing knowledge and providing guidance as needed
Organisational: (committee memberships, cross-border projects and interactions, local interactions within the branch, authorities, etc.)

• Technical Knowledge:
• Knowledge of UK FSA Rules and legislation impacting business (ie Anti/Bribery Act, Criminal Justice Act)Understanding of the business undertaken so as to sensibly apply relevant regulatory and legislative

requirements
• Knowledge and Understanding of investment business / equities, fixed income, capital markets, funding liquidity, treasury, money markets.
• Knowledge of regulations/market practice in other countries – Europe, US, Asia

Qualifications/Training:
• Degree or degree level Auditing background
• Previous Experience: 3+ years in Compliance
• Drafting policy and procedural documentation
