Design Group is currently recruiting for an SENIOR CONTRACTS SPECIALIST for our leading engineering, procurement and constructions (EPC) client. Our client has projects of all sizes across the petroleum, power generation, clean energy, metals and minerals markets.

Required Experience:

 

    Minimum of 10 years of experience with progressive relevant industry experience.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

       A recognized engineering degree, technical school diploma or equivalent work experience.

       Specialized courses or relevant experience in pricing, contract law, negotiations, business administration and risk management.

       Supervisory experience on projects of all sizes combined with the ability to interact with corporate management and clients on a regular basis.

       Excellent communication skills (Oral and Written).

       Knowledge of industry and regulatory codes, and standards.

       Intermediate to advanced computer skills.

 

Typical Responsibilities:

 

       Develops and implements the contracting strategy for the assigned project or area, including the development and translation of the contracting execution approach into a specific working contracting plan.

       Assists the designated manager in the development of the contracts section of the Project Execution Plan and represent contacts in operational and/or project reviews and audits.

       Maintains a working relationship with Construction, Engineering, Procurement, Legal and Risk Management to facilitate organizations interfaces between those involved in contract management.

       Reviews prime contract and makes recommendations to Legal to ensure appropriate provisions are reflected in the general, special and pricing conditions of the master contract form.

       Develops project contracts operating procedures, consistent with corporate policies, Procedures and Instructions for inclusion into the project procedures.

       Develops, monitors and maintains project master contract forms, including legal and commercial terms and conditions to be included in project documents.

       Develops and implements project contact procedures.

       Develops work-hour estimates for the contracts function.  Monitors project work and the expenditure of work-hours within approved budgets.

       Provides project management with reviews and analysis of the contract financial data and status reports on project contracting deliverables.

       Responsible for all personnel functions including: interviewing and selecting candidates, all training and orientation requirements, mentoring and counseling etc.

       Develops and manages procedures to recognize and identify contract claims as they develop and manage the timely resolution under the changed provisions wherever possible, obtaining claims and legal expertise as appropriate.

       Review and approve proposed negotiating plans developed by subordinate personnel in the commitment and resolution of commercial conditions, and may participate in direct negotiations.

       Ensure that project contracting of goods and services is consistent with all applicable Directives, Management Instructions and contracts procedures and that such requirements have been implemented in the assigned area or project operations.
