Responsibilities - Provide knowledgeable responses to telephone or correspondence inquires in a courteous, timely and professional manner. - Respond to requests from physicians, health care facilities, and the public about the treatment and management of individuals potentially exposed to hazardous substances. - Maintains awareness of current developments in the field of public health - Use initiative and judgment in applying pertinent guidelines or in the development of new policy. - Assist management in the direction of the multi-functional activities of the department, meeting internal and contractual commitments, assuring quality of process and direction of resources. - May be required to work off-shift (nights, weekends, and holidays) as necessary. - Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications - Three to Five years of experience in Public Health - Masters degree in a health-related field preferred, and/or additional skills and knowledge to prepare responses that require a clinical understanding - Experience in County or State level Policy writing and communication a plus - Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of public health and health education to solve the complex issues of public health as it relates to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. - Experience in writing out-facing communications - Ability to effectively communicate - Knowledge of PC and Microsoft Office applications preferred. - Strong analytical and organizational skills. - Provide necessary medical and scientific expertise required to evaluate environmental health issues. - Must have demonstrated excellent interpersonal and leadership skills and the ability to organize simultaneous tasks. - Proven ability to work as a team member is required. - All CDC personnel will be required by contract to undergo periodic program update training as the program changes. - The candidate should have prior experience in public health communication, or public policy, or medical communication.
