SENIOR COST ACCOUNTANT – The Cost Accountant develops costing estimates for new products and tracks actual costs to estimates and analyzes variances.  This position analyzes and monitors finished goods and raw material inventory including preparation of inventory reserve analysis.  Additional analyses responsibilities include monitoring actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing budget costs to actual production costs; this includes product margin reporting and analytics.  This person will also be a key contributor in the areas of inventory and period cost control procedures and ad hoc profitability analysis.  The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible to the Controller.

Essential Functions:

·         Develops and executes new product costing with emphasis on accurately computing, analyzing and communicating product costs and margin to manufacturing, finance and executive leadership. 

·         Maintains detailed records of current product costing and product cost trends.

·         Ensures that processes, programs and reports are developed, implemented and effectively administered while conforming to GAAP principles supporting corporate objectives. 

·         Supports pricing decisions and prepares comparative trend analyses. 

·         Develops financial studies and plans.  Identifies opportunities to reduce cost or otherwise improve margins. 

·         Supports all aspects of the monthly close process as required, specifically excess and obsolete inventory reserves, inventory reconciliations, cycle count entries, and other activities assigned by the controller to ensure a speedy and accurate month, quarter and year end close. 

·         Supports in all capacities year-end audit requirements as directed by the controller and CFO.

·         Prepares materials as required for quarterly board presentations and executive management meetings.

·         Prepare and support a number of recurring and ad hoc analyses.  Prepare and support product line profitability analysis, periodic detailed budgeting and reporting of the PL, BS and cash flow statements.  Takes on other research and analysis activities as may be periodically required.

·         Prioritize and plan work activities efficiently to meet deadlines; work on multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

Requirements:

·         Bachelor Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting.  Masters degree with Accounting or Finance preferred. 

·         CPA required

·         Minimum of 7 years relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.

·         Must have experience collaborating/influencing/working with senior management.

·         Strong character and capability to deliver results and work within cross-functional teams.

·         Must have a strategic focus with the ability to analyze, formulate and implement costing strategies to positively impact a global business. 

·         PC proficiency including utilizing Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).  NetSuite or other financial systems software experience preferred. 

·         Office equipment including PC, printer, fax, copier, and telephone

·         Occasional travel may be required.
