Senior Cost Accountant

LION has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Cost Accountant to join our Finance Department at our headquarters in Dayton, Ohio. We are looking for a high energy, self motivated professional who is ready to make a positive contribution to the team the moment they begin working with us.

The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for reporting all journal entries to the General Ledger and reconciling inventory accounts. The Senior Cost Accountant will work with plant engineers and product management to establish all standard costs for our facilities, conduct inventory and variance analysis and audit inventory transactions and processes.     

Responsibilities include:

·         Work with Plant Engineers and Product Management to oversee the implementation and maintenance of standard cost all products manufactured at the specified location

·         Reporting to the General Ledger all period end entries related to direct labor, overhead absorption, inventory control, cost of sales, purchase price and manufacturing variances

·         Verify all inventory transactions are being captured and reported to the proper accounts.

·         Participate in the physical inventory and year end reconciliation for the necessary locations

·         Inventory Account Reconciliations

·         Work with plant managers to resolve inventory control and accuracy issues

·         Period end reports and analysis related to plant performance and efficiency

·         Troubleshoot problems and implement controls where needed

·         Assists with the identification and implementation of continuous process improvements and accounting best practices to enhance the timeliness, accuracy, an relevancy of reporting to internal and external customers

·         Cross training with other cost accounting personnel

The Ideal Candidate will possess:

·         Bachelors in Accounting

·         3 - 4 years of recent experience in Cost Accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment

·         Excellent problem solving skills, detail orientation and self motivation with the ability to identify alternative solutions or approachs to complex problems

·         Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

·         Knowledge of and experience using Oracle or other major ERP is preferred

·         Hands-on experience with accounting software systems is preferred

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·         Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively

·         Creativity and tenacity in analysis and problem solving with a "can-do" attitude
