Senior Cost Accountant
Scott Safety, a business unit of Tyco International, is a premier manufacturer of innovative respiratory and other personal protective equipment and safety devices for fire and rescue services, industrial workers, police, military and civil defense organizations around the world. With five global manufacturing locations, Scott Safety produces products that protect thousands of individuals each day from environmental hazards including smoke, toxic fumes, combustible gases, falling objects, and flame contaminants. The Scott product line includes self-contained breathing apparatus, supplied air and air-purifying respirators, gas and flame detection instruments, thermal imaging cameras, air compressors, accountability systems, head, eye and face protection, and firefighter and personal protective clothing.
Responsible for cost accounting functions and ensuring that adequate internal controls are maintained. Works closely with Operations, Materials, Purchasing, and Engineering. Lead person for the annual physical inventory, excess and obsolete inventory reviews, and the annual standard cost setting process.
- Prepare routine and non-routine journal entries; provide support to Accounting Centers of Excellence on journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Review and analyze inventory, expense, cost, and variance accounts.
- Lead cross-functional annual work in process and warehouse physical inventory.
- Lead cross-functional annual standard cost setting process.
- Lead cross-functional quarterly excess and obsolete inventory reviews.
- Prepare financial reports for management review.
- Provide financial analysis support to internal customers and auditors.
- Identify control weaknesses and inefficient processes; implement process improvements.
- Bachelors Degree with minimum of 5 years cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment. Good interpersonal and communication skills required. Self-motivation, ability to problem-solve and multi-task required.
- CMA certification preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft applications (with emphasis on Excel) required.
- BAAN and Crystal Reports experience is preferred.
