Senior Cost Accountant Job in New York, New York US
A world Leader in luxury, retail fashion and apparel seeks a Senior Cost Accountant. The Cost Accountant will primarily be helping with the month-end and year-end close as it relates to cost actualization and variances. The Cost Accountant will be responsible for the preparation of Sales and Gross Profit analysis and reporting to senior management. The Cost Accountant will also work with Accounts Payable to ensure proper General Ledger coding to purchases and cost variances. The Cost Accountant will audit Customs Broker invoices against the cost sheet and resolve any variances with Production. The Cost Accountant will also need to accurately report sales and cost of sales.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Management or related field.
- Must have Cost Accounting experience.
- Experience with leading a project to conclusion and making a difference.
- Experience with month-end close.
- Intermediate Excel (V-look ups, manipulation, spreadsheets, reporting).
Plus:
- Proficient with MS Office.
- Experience with process improvement, cost sheet variances, purchase accruals, journals, entries and General Ledger analysis.
- Experience with
Great Plains and SAP. - Garment Industry experience.
- Exposure to Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
- Familiarity with Customs compliance.
