The Senior Cost Analyst, Cost Management assists in the review and benchmarking of costs across the enterprise. Identifies and recommends opportunities leading to cost optimizations. Prepares detailed, recurring reports for internal use and in support of broader based analysis for senior executives and the relevant management committees and Boards of Directors. Works under the supervision of the Senior Manager, Reporting and Performance Measurement.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Preparation and Analysis of Cost Performance Measurement Reports
- Prepares reports which detail current costs, estimates, and projected costs, for review by senior leaders to assist in making cost related business decisions, Ensures consistency and accuracy of information.
- Produces cost analytics, identifying opportunities and recommendations for cost optimization
- Collects and utilizes current contract data, benchmarking data, information about market best practices, and trend analysis in compiling cost-related reports
- Works with the Cost Management team members to prepare the analytics required for all ongoing negotiations
- Assists in conducting post implementation reviews to monitor changes, effectiveness of cost-control initiatives, and achievement of cost benefits
- Uses analytical models for analysis based on established procedures and within predetermined parameters.
Spend Analytics Management
- Regularly reviews spend categories, including invoice reviews, demand management and alignment to contracts and business case of targeted savings.
- Provides ongoing assessment of data automation tools, including cost/benefit analysis that will improve the quality and timeliness of global spend data availability
- Assists with the implementation and ongoing maintenance (collecting, relating, cleansing, classifying of data) within the spend analytics tools at a global level. Provides reports and completes analysis and compares results to other systems and reconciles accordingly.
Parental Charges Financial Management
- Keep up-to-date for services billed by global entities and provide service beneficiary with current status of their spending and help on forecast
- Challenge spending and launch initiatives for cost savings opportunities; calculate and advise accruals amount for booking entries for parental charges
- Discuss proactively with services beneficiaries for signing and renewal of SLAs; Keep up-to-date of parental services catalogue (nature, scope, cost model).
Business Case Financial Support
- Builds business cases (and ongoing monitoring metrics) to support a new project/initiative/spend envelope undergoing review, including cost modeling of options and savings tracking during the lifecycle
- Supports the Sr. Manager, Reporting and Performance Measurement in securing approvals for implementation of new cost-related initiatives
Vendor Profiles Performance Monitoring
- Assists in the development and implementation of the performance management reporting for the department – cost savings, KPI’s, vendor performance measurements etc
- Assists in the implementation and maintenance of procedures to ensure the efficient and accurate collection and reporting of information required.
Identify Cost Saving Process Improvement Opportunities
- Assists in developing and maintaining policies managed by the Cost Management and Premises group (e.g. policies related to travel, expenses, etc.); collaborates with staff in other areas of the organization to collect information and to assist in determining policy direction and updates
- Maintains and analyzes financial models; Supports the Sr. Manager, Reporting and Performance Measurement in responding to ad hoc management queries related to costs; meets with business leaders to qualify requests, in order to present reports.

- Position reports directly to the Senior Manager, Performance Measurement Reporting; Supports Director/Head of Cost Management on ad-hoc requests and projects
- Senior Management in Business Units across various functional group globally
- Business units financial controllers, management and staff in Finance
- Other management and staff in Finance.
EXPERIENCE
- 4-6 years financial experience, ideally including previous experience in an accounting or a financial report production and analysis role
- University degree or college diploma in business or a related discipline
- Ideally currently enrolled in or completed a professional accounting designation program (e.g. CGA, CMA,CA)
- Experience in the management and analysis of information related to vendor costs (IT, travel, market data, etc.) and in the management of expenses.
- Experience in the development, implementation and maintenance of policies
- Good understanding of basic accounting concepts and principles
- Solid working knowledge of financial analysis concepts and techniques
- Process driven/focused on meeting timelines and deliverables
- Strong organization skills
- Exceptional knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications, particularly Excel and capable of dealing with large amounts of data
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written)
