SENIOR COST CONTROLS ANALYST
Our client, an operator within the pipeline industry is in search of a Senior Cost Analyst for their Edmonton based office.
Responsibilities:
- Provide timely, accurate and relevant guidance, governance and support to projects on approved cost controls standards to manage Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) components including External Engineering services, Procurement of Material/Equipment, Construction services, internal cost, Allowance for Funds Used During Construction, Contingency, Escalation, etc.
- Proactively develop, manage and improve cost controls standards to enhance cost controls practices.
- Lead and facilitate reviews with project cost leads and support groups of the processes developed or enhanced. They include:
- Cost Controls and Forecasting.
- Earned Value Management and Change Management through Project Change Orders and Trends.
- Incurred Cost
- Planning, Measurement and Reporting of EPC activities.
- Manage continuous and collaborative communication with project cost controls teams to address project cost related needs.
- Monitor project reporting and identify deviations from standard reports. Assist project cost controls teams with timely and accurate data gathering and delivery issues.
- Participate in execution of joint Cost, Schedule and Risk Health Checks to verify effective planning and implementation of cost processes.
- Manage alignment and collaborative team approach: Scheduling, Risk, Lessons Learned, and Gating.
- Become proficient in the use of the support tool for cost controls and reporting in Major Projects, so training and mentorship can be provided to project cost controls teams, as required. Identify tool process enhancements to ensure tool compliance with cost controls standards.
- Manage self development to stay current with best practice methods for cost controls. Participate in industry associations, but not limited to AACE, PMI and CII.
Qualifications:
- University degree in Business Administration, Engineering or a technical certificate in Construction Management, or equivalent project experience.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in performing cost management and other project controls functions over engineering, procurement, construction components of capital projects.
- Minimum 7 years experience in project cost controls teams on large capital projects in the oil and gas, petrochemical, industrial and power industries.
- Experience in developing, enhancing and implementing cost standards.
- Experience in using and enhancing cost controls tool systems.
- strong communications. Ability to be clear, concise, assertive, and be able to explain standards in a simple manner.
- Effective analytical skills.
- Ability to work with low supervision and ability to work effectively with others to achieve group results.
This position will start out as a contract and could lead into a Permanent position. This position also requires travel on occasion.
