Primary Job Responsibilities Great opportunity to support Program Management of major Transportation project. The Senior Cost Estimator reporting to the Lead Cost Estimator will be instrumental in developing and maintaining the cost model for a major Rail/Transportation project. Duties include but are not limited to : Anticipated Responsibilities: Review and analyze Requests for Change and Notices of Change Review, input to and confirm positive Merit Determinations on Requests for Change Secure drawings, related design documents and any contemporaneous reports Perform take-offs as needed Visit worksite to see site conditions in order to include unforeseen conditions Prepare Independent Cost Estimates of changes Meet with Contractor Estimators for any scope clarifications Obtain Vendor Quotes Prepare Variance Summary with comments Prepare Cost Analysis with Explanation of Variances (Quantity, Unit price, or inconsistencies in Contractor s estimates Present communicate the findings to different levels of management Support Off-site Estimators by providing pricing support and answering any questions in a timely manner Clarify cost related questions and work as a team-member to meet project goals Training and Experience We prefer: Qualifications: 10+ years of experience required, BA or BS or related experience. Ideal candidate will have extensive estimating/cost experience in MEP, special systems as well as a general estimating background and experience in all divisions. A minimum of 5 years Rail rapid transit and/or heavy civil infrastructure experience. Must be proactive, self-starting and require minimal supervision. Must have good verbal and written communications/presentations skills and be able to work at different and appropriate levels of details as needed. Must be sensitive to schedule and deadlines. The Cost Estimator fills a key support role and requires superior customer service experience including the ability to build collaborative relationships. Position focuses on forecasting the future cost and schedule outcome of a project. Education: BS in technical field (Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management) and/ or BS degree in Finance or accounting with a minimum of two years construction management experience or related experience. Computer Skills: Ability to routinely and efficiently use Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, Power Point etc.) and Microsoft Outlook. Having a working knowledge of HCSS or similar estimating software is desired. Having a working knowledge of Primavera Project Planner or similar scheduling software is also desired. Other Essential Functions Other Requirements Candidate must be able to carry 25#'s for 50 Cost Estimator should be physically fit to visit job site to include walking on uneven construction surfaces
