Job Description Davis Langdon, An AECOM Company, is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Cost Manager to provide cost estimating on major health care projects located in the metropolitan New York area. This is an opportunity to apply your background and experience to cost consulting, influencing every step of the construction decision-making process. The role includes managing the cost of multiple major Health Care projects for HC institutional client(s), with specific activities as follows: Manage production of all healthcare group design-phase cost estimates and oversee support team. Attend all key project meeting with owner, PM/ CM team and A/E teams; including preparation of distilled presentations as required. Manage costs at all levels of project from programming (including the ability to produce projective models) to construction phase and close out. Produce and manage Life Cycle Costing Exercises and interface with sustainability initiatives. Maintain main point of contact with executive team, facility management and owners representatives. Spearhead/Manage/Produce Functional Program Database(s) and Benchmark Analysis; including the gathering and dissemination of data from sources other than Davis Langdon (in concert with other members of the firm, and under the supervision of the director of the Healthcare Sector). Manage all Risk Registers and Risk Management process, Reconciliation and Value Management and Variance Control. Coordinate resource needs with resource management group. Support the preparation of Business development and marketing materials for the Health Care Sector. Report directly to leader of healthcare group. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage people, process, and opportunities relative to Healthcare business case. Utilize negotiation skills to distill, filter and manage information flow. Collect, collate, disseminate and present appropriate and necessary information to Owners at the appropriate time, e.g. Executive Briefs at the Board level. Manage, motivate and lead team; find resource efficiencies where they exist. Prepare and manage the preparation of detailed cost estimates from concept through to construction documents. Manage ongoing evaluations of alternative designs, materials and construction methods. Perform risk analysis of estimates. Develop and manage cost databases and benchmarking. Prepare project cash flow reports and budgets. Reconcile estimates prepared by contractors and construction managers. Analyze and negotiate change orders. Perform value engineering - evaluation and reporting. Review and agree upon applications for payment, final accounts and project close-out. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE SKILLS: Solid background in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or Engineering. Must have minimum 10 years pre-construction, cost estimating, project engineering or project management experience on large-scale Healthcare facilities ($50+ million construction cost). Bachelors or higher degree, or equivalent, in a construction related discipline. A clear understanding of the issues pertaining to the funding mechanics, planning, design, construction, and operations of Health Care facilities. Experience preparing budgets, cash flow analyses and other financial reports including and understanding of the Health Care Market business case. Measurement of quantities from drawings and in the field. Excellent client(owners/developers/architects/engineers) relation skills and the ability to create an impression of understanding and confidence. Demonstrated capability to lead projects and manage resources. Previous experience interpreting conceptual and schematic construction drawings, narratives and outlines. Ability to write complex business documents, such as reports, papers, detailed letters and emails. Progress measurement and validation. Estimate validation and assurance. CPM Schedule control, analysis and resource management. Ability to think strategically, plan and problem solve. Demonstrated stability and longevity in job history. Attention to detail and quality. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word, Power-point, BIM, OST, Risk e-tools, etc... Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
