Job Summary:
DTS is a provider of digital audio technologies, which are incorporated into an array of entertainment products by licensee customers worldwide. The Company's core digital multi-channel audio technology enables the delivery and playback of compelling 3D sound and is used in a range of product applications, including audio/video receivers, DVD players, Blu-ray Disc players, smart phones, personal computers, car audio products, video game consoles, home theater systems, digital media players, set-top-boxes (STBs) and televisions. The 230+ people fast growing public company is looking to hire a great, flexible, positive, can-do attitude Senior Technology Licensing Attorney with a proven track record of leadership, team player, and innovation. This key position will report to the General Counsel. The candidate will provide legal services to one or more of the company's business units and manage the company's litigation and settlement efforts associated iwth its IP assets in order to support key legal, intellectual property, and strategic goals.

In addition:

•Provides legal services at the direction of the General Counsel or other group lead, to one or more of the Company’s business units. •Draft and negotiate intellectual property/technology license agreements pertaining to Company’s consumer electronics business – in particular the home audio, automotive, professional products, PC, broadcast, mobile devices and entertainment markets. •Draft and negotiate miscellaneous business contracts. •Provide Legal support for enforcement of the Company’s IP assets. •Manage the Company’s litigation and settlement efforts associated with its IP assets

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
•Contract Drafting, Review Negotiations
•Assist in IP compliance matters
•Assist in general litigation matters
•Miscellaneous and special projects

•Ability to independently draft and negotiate complex technology license agreements and other business contracts.
•Thorough knowledge of contract law, and understanding of intellectual property and transactional law in California.
•Expertise in Intellectual Property and technology licensing.
•Expertise in IP compliance/enforcement
•Material experience in litigation management
•Ability to quickly develop expertise in specific legal areas and jurisdictions when the situation arises and apply the same.
•International business experience

Required Education and Experience:
•Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited United States law school is a must.
•Admission to the California or other US State Bar is required.
•Transactional attorney with 15 year's technology, consumer electronics, telecommunication or software industry experience is a must.
•Experience in a sophisticated in-house legal environment.

Additiionally,
•Minimum 6+ years transactional and IP licensing experience as an in-house lawyer with a company or at a law firm with substantive client interaction.
•Material IP compliance experience.
•Material litigation management experience.
•Broader General Counsel experience a plus

•Foreign language skills a plus, especially Mandarin or other Southeastern Asian dialects

•The Senior Technology Licensing Attorney -- Business and Legal Affairs must be able to quickly adapt to the ever-changing priorities of the business.
•Candidates should have proven track record working in fast-paced environment, balancing a high volume of varied tasks, working independently and in intra- and inter-departmental teams. Candidates should be comfortable in being accountable to several people at the same time.

Computer Skills:
•Basic MS Office computer skills are required (Word/Excel)
•On-line legal research skills required (Lexis/Westlaw).
•Familiarity with using document management systems.
