Senior Credit Analyst, Private Placements

Conduct and support fundamental credit research on investment grade and high yield corporate bonds as member of the Private Placements team. Person will be a key member of a team in evaluating new investment opportunities and in managing existing investment positions. RESPONSIBILITIES ? Through fundamental credit analysis, provide timely buy/sell/hold recommendations in support of investment and portfolio management needs and new-issue and secondary-market investment opportunities. Analysis to include total exposure, maturity, and relative value considerations. ? Share knowledge - both verbally and in writing -- regarding ongoing credit or sector developments with other members of the Private Placement Team and Genworth investments ? Prepare timely, comprehensive written analyses and cogently present facts, analyses, conclusions, and recommendations on individual credits as part of transaction underwriting process ? Report on individual credit or events to a broad audience within Genworth Investments ? Review and analyze transaction documents and work closely with internal and external counsel to assess strengths, risks, and value of deal covenants and structure ? Manage portfolio of existing credits and analyze, make recommendations on, and timely respond to amendment and waiver requests ? Maintain and report on current credit views by following and analyzing news, company financial reports and other releases, rating agency actions, analyst publications, and other information sources. ? Interact with rating agencies, Wall Street analysts, and other independent sources to obtain external views on individual credits or industries ? Participate in monthly credit reviews and credit surveillance discussions and provide in-depth assessment of identified names for periodic accounting valuation (defend) processes ? Provide credit research to support new business initiatives ? Develop and maintain relationships with Genworth's private placement dealer coverage ? Outside of core credit responsibilities, actively contribute to division-wide projects and process improvement efforts BASIC QUALIFICATIONS ? Undergraduate degree ? MBA or equivalent degree and 4+ years corporate credit research experience, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience ? Experience and demonstrated ability in reviewing corporate financial reports ? Understanding of deal documentation and structure with the ability to incorporate covenants and structure as an integral component of the underwriting process ? Strong functional capability within Windows spreadsheet applications ? Solid written and verbal communications skills and the ability to present effectively to Investment-area leadership and broader groups ? Solid decision-making skills regarding core credit responsibilities, requiring only limited guidance and oversight ? Ability to positively influence other members of Private Placement and Investments Leadership PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS ? Understanding of current credit risk models such as KMV, etc. ? Understanding of fixed income mathematics ? CFA or candidacy
