Senior Credit Manager – Macquarie Equipment Finance- Europe recruitment
Macquarie's Corporate and Asset Finance Group (CAF) is a leading structured asset finance and leasing specialist. It is responsible for the investment in and financing of capital equipment in industries where earnings flow from the use of these assets. CAF provides finance solutions for government and corporate markets and are one of the largest independent providers of operating lease finance in the Asia-Pacific region as well as having significant operations in Europe and the US. CAF has approximately 900 staff engaged in leasing and asset finance / lending activities in diverse asset classes across various locations through Australia, Asia, Europe, and North America.
Macquarie Equipment Finance (MEF) is a division of CAF that focuses on financing a broad range of equipment including a substantial focus on technology and manufacturing equipment. Business is generated across the full spectrum of customers and deal types, ranging from structured transactions for large publicly listed customers to small ticket SMB flow business supporting global vendor partners.
As part of the global growth strategy of the business, we are now seeking a Senior Credit Manager in our London team. The key responsibility of the role is to head the European credit function for MEF Europe reporting directly to MEF Global Head of Credit in Sydney . The position will involve some travel to our Head Office in Sydney and our major regional offices in USA, Southeast Asia and Europe.
The successful candidate will:
· Develop and be responsible for a growing credit team in London to support the growth of MEF Europe;
· Research and prepare deal approval applications for all MEF European transactions and be responsible for obtaining all relevant approvals by liaising with various centralised Risk Management authorities. After an initial period, it would be expected that the successful applicant would be granted a meaningful credit discretion;
· Liaise between the business, vendors and Macquarie's centralised Risk Management Group to seek all relevant approvals;
· Provide ongoing monitoring of risks, exposures and limits for the European portfolio;
· Provide industry or counterparty specific market analysis and outlook, forecasting likely impact of changing market conditions on counterparties ' operating environment ;
· Facilitate the purchase of transactions/portfolios from third parties ;
· Implement and monitor credit policies and procedures;
· Provide support in evaluating, deciding and implementing business strategy for the European region;
· Manage portfolio management functions ;
The suitable candidate will have:
· Previous senior experience in both a credit and asset environment with significant exposure to leasing and asset finance ;
· A background in leasing finance with experience in a range of European jurisdictions , preferably including both large and small ticket business platforms;
· Experience in managing and developing an effective and commercially orientated credit team;
· A thorough understanding of equipment leasing solutions for global vendor partners;
· Strong analytical skills including credit, accounting and financial analysis ;
· Refined negotiation and influencing skills ;
· Flexibility, display commerciality and strong problem solving skills ;
· A broad network of industry colleagues and peers in other international financiers ;
· A hard-working attitude and the desire to succeed in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment ;
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be able to effectively tailor communications to a diverse range of business and technical stakeholder groups ;
· The ability to work well under pressure to provide timely and accurate solutions to business opportunities and challenges ;
