Senior Credit Specialist

Corporate Banking Solutions (CBS) is a team that is dedicated to exceeding the expectations of CBA's business customers by offering innovative and compelling banking solutions, supported by a simple and easy origination experience.
CBS works closely with Business and Private Banking (BPB) and Institutional Banking and Markets (IBM) sales and distribution channels to provide solutions that cover all business working capital, payments, asset finance and lending needs.
Role Purpose:
The Asset Finance Centre is a centralised national team responsible for the sale of Car and Equipment Finance products. We are currently a team of less than 100 employees whose key stakeholders include not only external clients, but also internal clients including Relationship Managers, Asset Finance Specialists and other staff members from the internal CBA network.
A vital aspect of the role will be to liaise closely with the internal teams within our centre to achieve our common goals but also with internal clients from the network to encourage their usage of our centre.
Key Accountabilities:
Credit Quality
- Ensure the team delivers timely credit assessment decisions by assisting them on complex transactions
- Assist in driving AFC business outcomes through regular quality one on one effective coaching (when required)
- Ensure that all staff maintain their Credit quality standards and that the team maintains its 'best practise' outcomes
- Apply a process excellence mindset to make changes to help the team work better, different and faster
- Support the Credit Operations Manager as required
Compliance and Operational Risk
- Ensure that the Bank's credit policies, procedures and audit requirements relating to car and equipment finance are adhered to and understood
- Participate in and help to engage the team in projects/working groups to enhance the centres ability to apply a consistent interpretation of the Banks policies in relation to asset finance
Business Development / Network engagement
- Build a proactive and empathetic relationship with the CBA network our internal business partners
- Enhance the centre's capability to on board Local Business Banking (LBB) equipment
- Value-add to customer (internal/external) relationships by supporting the Direct Network Sales staff in their activities
- Provide strategic and tactical insights to drive business outcomes
Staff engagement and development
- Gain exposure by assisting in holding weekly team /or sales and service meetings to ensure all staff are aware of the strategic direction of the team
- Assist the Credit team leader to ensure our audit requirements are met
- Support the Credit Team Leader to ensure that all coaching of the team (on a weekly basis)
Qualifications and Experience Required:
Essential
- Effective oral and written communication skills including phone manner
- Inspiring to others, lead by example with strong interpersonal skills
- Superior planning and time management skills
- Demonstration of successfully working in a team environment
Desirable
- Product knowledge of Equipment Finance (including hire purchase, chattel mortgage, finance lease and novated lease)
- Equipment Finance experience
- CBA PCAA/CAA holder
