Senior Cultural Heritage Consultant

Job Description As our Senior Cultural Heritage Consultant you will undertake heritage assessments for a broad range of clients both from within AECOM and also external clients. The clients include government agencies, infrastructure and development companies, mining and energy companies and traditional owners. Our Cultural Heritage Team also works on native title and cultural heritage management plans and experience in these areas would be advantageous. You will be expected to be able to work unsupervised as required, form part of a multi-disciplinary, dynamic team, and be able to travel away from Brisbane to conduct field work when required. Some of your responsibilities will include: - Undertake and supervise cultural heritage surveys and anthropological assessments; - Engage effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander people in relation to cultural heritage and native title; - Assist in negotiations regarding cultural heritage and native title agreements; - Prepare reports to a high standard; - Provide high quality technical advice to clients; - Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget to agreed quality and technical standards; - Liaise and communicate effectively with clients; - Ensure compliance of all projects to QA and technical standards; - Contribute to the strategic direction of AECOM's cultural heritage capabilities; - Contribute to the development of a cohesive work team; - Travel inter-State and nationally, as required; - Responsible for maintaining a professional image on behalf of the company at all times when dealing with internal and external clients; Essential criteria: - Relevant degree (a qualification in Arts or Science majoring in Archaeology and/or Anthropology will be highly regarded) - Demonstrated working knowledge of the Queensland Heritage Act, Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Heritage Protection Act 1984, Environment and Heritage Legislation Amendment Act (No. 1) 2003, the heritage provisions of the Environment and Biodiversity Protection Act - Current driver's license - Self-organisation and a high degree of personal accountability - High level of competency in consulting with and involving people - Good interpersonal skills - liaison, networking, communication - and highly developed written skills - Ability to apply creative and innovative solutions to problems - Be friendly and able to maintain effective, open communication with clients and government representatives.
