Senior Data Analyst – Global Operations recruitment

This position provides investment data operational support services to the Global Operations Data Management team's internal and external clients. This role is responsible for accurate and timely delivery of data and reports, execution of data research and controls, management of feeds utilized in team activities, and assisting in the design, development and evolution of team products and services. The position will assist in defining team data management practices and policies. In addition, this position will serve various roles on projects, including subject matter expertise, analysis, and requirements gathering.
The responsibilities of the individual in this position include:
Client service:
Provide data and Russell business expertise to internal and external Russell clients.
- Front line contact for data delivery support issues related to team activities, including after hours support.
- Serve as an expert on Russell’s global investment products, particularly data, operational, reporting, and regulatory aspects of managing the products.
- Advise clients on opportunities to further leverage our reference data and vendor capabilities, assisting clients in both the strategic and tactical planning phases.
Data Management:
Ensure effective and up to date data management practices; ensure data held within the database(s) is accurate.
- Manage and perform data quality and stewardship activities to ensure that data held within Russell’s global reference databases is accurate.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of data, gather requirements for new deliveries, and design delivery solutions in the form of scheduled reports and feeds.
- Develop and maintain team policy and procedure documentation, report on any data quality control issues to appropriate Russell associates via metrics, error logs, and corporate compliance/ risk channels.
- Identify, research, and explain variances in fund data calculation results in conjunction with other team data management associates.
- Work with the vendor(s), data providers, and Russell IT associates to manage any data changes required due to errors, revisions, etc.
- Conduct data analysis when necessary, in order to determine root cause of data inconsistencies.
- Monitor controls and procedures at the vendor and custodian banks to confirm accurate and timely data is being delivered.
- Ensure adequate quality controls are in place and are consistently performed.
- Develop data models and other data documents such as data flow diagrams and process flow diagrams.
- Acquire and automate additional data sources (internal and external) as needed to improve operating efficiency or support business/product needs.
- Network with other key data management associates globally/across Russell, evangelizing and implementing common best practices wherever possible.
Vendor Management:
Responsible for managing day to day operations between software vendors, data vendors and Russell.
- Effectively manage day-to-day operational issues with software and offshore resource vendors, with specific focus on data.
- Work closely with vendors to ensure changes/updates/revisions are made according to Russell directions and specifications.
- Manage vendor performance versus agreed delivery standards, project timelines, and product enhancements and assist in developing the service standards, service level agreements, and KPIs.
Projects:
Responsible for contributing to project teams in various roles where appropriate.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on various projects as appropriate.
- Serve as a Business Analyst working with all business lines, gathering and documenting project and business requirements, with a specific focus on data requirements.
Operations:
- Design and lead business process reengineering efforts, including process automation.
- Determine and sdesign data delivery solutions, inlcuidn gself-help options, data feeds, and reports
- Knowledge of various file / transmission formats and technologies desired, including .xml schema, flat file formats, FTP and ETL technologies
The successful candidate will have extensive demonstrable skills and experiences including the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance or Technology related field required.
- Extensive data management experience.
- Operational and management experience with Eagle PACE platforms preferred.
- Experience managing operational data stores, data warehouses and marts.
- Mid-level technology skills (systems implementation, data manipulation, data feed support).
- Knowledge of the investment industry and fund products.
- Business analysis and project management skills.
- Client service and vendor oversight experience.
