Senior Data Analyst (SQL / Excel)
My client is looking for an experienced Data Analyst to work within a Remediation Portfolio. The successful candidate will be responsible for the analysis of data on customers and products with the objective of aggregating and normalising data across multiple projects and diverse systems.
An ideal candidate background will include:
- Strong Data Warehousing/modelling and/or Migration experience
- Management Information or Business Information experience (MI / BI)
- Strong Excel skills, ideally coupled with strong Access skills
- Ideally experience of working in a remediation project from a Financial Services role
Key Responsibilities will include:
Data cleansing:
- Review data sets for accuracy of data prior to data loading to create a golden source.
- Identify data inaccurate and investigate possible improvements.
- Liaise with Projects regarding proposed improvements and obtain their approval for these.
Identify data conflicts in enrichment and refresh cycles:
- Review key data fields to ensure successful joins to enrichment source.
- Review exception reports generated by systems and apply the conflict policy to classify each reported conflict.
- Liaise with Project(s) to recommend which changes to accept or not.
Manage operational data flows
Receive files from projects update existing data fields with data generated by projects
- Introduce systems and controls to ensure accurate update of cored data attributes.
- Recommend updated data fields to Project(s).
- Data completeness in database:
- Run queries on required fields within database to identify data gaps.
- Investigate various sources to identify correct data.
- Obtain approval from impacted Project(s) and/or Shared Service(s) for proposed correct data, if relevant.
Additional skills required:
- Experience of working with data, including database management (SQL, SAS, OLAP or similar), or Teradata
- Quality Assurance
- Familiar with Project Management methods, disciplines and the lifecycle
- Experience of data quality profiling in SQL
- Basic knowledge of Corporate bank products (e.g. Debt Finance, Trade Finance, Asset Finance, Payments etc.) in lending or other type of credit offering
