Role
Responsibilities
As an integral member of the Data Reporting team, you will work with other engineers to track, organize, maintain, and deliver all of Patch’s data. Specifically, you will:
• Take responsibility for the tracking of Patch’s web analytics
• Use Big Data technologies to manage and deliver our data (e.g. Hadoop/Hive/Pig, MapReduce, NoSql, etc.)
• Lead the team in finding new ways to look at and visualize our data
Requirements
• A passion for Big Data
• Experience in Big Data technologies and scripting languages (see above)
• An understanding of the metrics used in a web-based business
• Experience with RDMS
• BS degree (or higher) in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
Experience or interest in the following would be ideal:
• mongoDB or other NoSql solutions
• JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX
• Geo-location, geometry and mapping
• Data Visualizations and Information Architecture
• Data Warehouses (Netezza, Vertica)
• Open source projects
• Comfortable with git
