SSgA Defined Contribution
With over $250 billion in global defined contribution (DC) assets and over 30 years of DC experience, SSgA is one of the leading investment-only providers of DC solutions in the worldwide marketplace today.. SSgA's Global DC team is led by Fredrik Axsater, Managing Director and Global Head of Defined Contribution and is comprised of over 20 professionals worldwide. The UK DC business is led by Nigel Aston Managing Director and UK Head of Defined Contribution. Building the UK team is a major focus for SSgA.
Our DC clients rely on SSgA to provide a robust, global investment platform that offers access to virtually every major asset class, capitalization range and style, including low-cost index components, target date and diversified growth funds. Roles and Responsibilities
As an integral part of SSgA's Global Defined Contribution Team, the DC Strategist will work to ensure a superior product offering and client support versus other DC investment managers. Working in partnership with SSgA's Institutional Client Group (ICG), you will drive adoption of SSgA's investment strategies with schemes, platforms and investment consultants to fuel the growth of SSgA's DC business. As a senior member of the DC Investment Strategy Team, you will use your investment, sales and client-facing experience to identify opportunities to highlight the value of our offerings and support our existing client base. The Investment Strategist serves as the DC product and DC plan design expert and is an ambassador for SSgA's DC business externally and internally. This position is located in London and will report to the UK Head of Defined Contribution.
Additional responsibilities and expectations include:
- Ensure best-in-class Defined Contribution product offering
- Serve as internal and external expert on SSgA DC strategies and plan design issues
- Identify opportunities for custom analysis highlighting the value of SSgA strategies vis-à-vis competitors and engage with team members to implement sales programs around those analyses
- Create messaging for sales campaigns in conjunction with broader sales and marketing teams
- Monitor and update clients and internal and external stakeholders on general industry trends and incorporate changes into team sales strategy
- Partner with internal stakeholders, such as the Institutional Client Group and the Investment Solutions Group, to expand the depth and breadth of SSgA's DC client base
- Keep abreast of regulatory and legislative topics affecting the retirement industry and participate in industry groups, as needed
- Present at industry conferences and serve as one of the senior SSgA DC experts at industry events
Skills and requirements:
- Degree required; CFA preferred
- 8-10 years investment management experience required
- Experience in DC markets strongly preferred
- Solid investment foundation and excellent analytical skills required
- Excellent sales and communication (written and verbal) skills and experience in presenting to institutional clients required
- Strong stakeholder management abilities, excellent relationship and communication (written and verbal) skills required
- Team player with experience in building strong internal and external relationships
- Self-starter that will excel and thrive in a dynamic and entrepreneurial team environment
