Senior Demand Forecasting Analyst for World Renowned Energy Major based in London – £40K
My client is one of the world’s largest Energy Companies that is seeking candidates with superb quantitative analysis and communication skills to drive the development of models and analysis across every aspect of Demand Forecasting.
The right person will be tasked with developing and maintaining statistical forecast models, overseeing and coordinating the model development and implementation work of up to 8 analysts. Responsibilities will include leading the development of the company’s portfolio forecasting models by delivering B2B and B2C forecasts for electricity and gas customer demand and for renewable generation. They will also be in charge of report forecasting accuracy, and developing indicators in order to keep the control and understanding of the accuracy at its highest level within the business.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A postgraduate qualification in a numerate discipline, ideally to PhD level, is essential to meet the excellent scientific research and investigation skills required. Also, the qualification should highlight an in-depth knowledge in computational techniques.
- Highly numerate and excellent analytical skills with a solid understanding of the principles of statistics.
- A high level of computer literacy including familiarity of supporting software such as SAS, SQL, and VBA.
- Proven work experience developing and delivering mathematical computer models.
- Proven ability to take a lead in developing others in the team either through sharing own skills and connecting people together.
- An excellent understanding of electricity and gas industry, regulatory regimes, trading arrangements, hedging strategies, and the drivers of gas and electricity demand.
- A sound understanding of how demand forecasting affects gross margin.
