Senior Design Engineer

Position Summary:

The Senior Design Engineer – Value Engineering, serves in a key engineering role, evaluating existing development and commercial platforms, proposing systems design and/or component changes for cost reduction and/or improved reliability. The role will develop implementation schedules and cost targets for all activities, and lead the execution on all approved proposals through electromechanical improvements.

Responsibilities:

Experience:

·         Minimum of 8 (eight) years’ experience in mechanical engineering field, four of which in industrial equipment manufacturing in a Value Engineering role. Proficient in designing molded and sheet metal parts and electromechanical assemblies.

·         Minimum of four years’ experience with solid modeling CAD development tools. Experience with Solid Works preferred.

·         Understanding of cost accounting practices within an industrial manufacturing environment. Experience in LEAN environment, a plus.

·         Extensive knowledge of manufacturing technologies and processes, including FMEA, DFM, reliability, concepts of life predictions, mean time between failure calculations, and design for experiments.

·         Thorough understanding of product regulatory requirements (FCC, UL, CE, etc.) to enable design conformance.

·         Ability to lead cross functional teams focused on value engineering and design efforts.

·         Ability to work independently with minimum supervision as well as productively in a team environment. Must be detail oriented, meet deadlines and highly motivated.

·         Strong interpersonal communication, conflict management skills and presentation skills.

Education:

·         Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. MBA is a big plus.
