Senior Developer – Information Technology – Standard & Poor’s Rating Services, EMEA recruitment

An excellent opportunity to practice and develop your Java Enterprise development skills in the financial sector within an agile environment. If successful, you will join a team of 8 Java developers working within an Application Development department of 40 providing operational systems and internal and external web-sites to Standard Poor's European business users and clients, principally in the ratings area.

The projects undertaken are largely either developing new systems or comprise major enhancements to existing systems. You can expect to participate in all aspects of the project from estimating, in conjunction with project managers, refinement of requirements in conjunction with Business Analysts, technology selection, coding, unit testing, and liaising on deployment with the infrastructure team.

The role also involves considerable interaction with peer teams in other regions, notably New York and with our sourced off shore programming teams.

Apart from your role in particular projects you will participate in discussions on improving technologies, process and practices within the European development team. You can expect to find that your voice has equal weight with those of other team members.

In addition to the continuing team based project work you may occasionally undertake a project on your own or as part of a smaller group.

The Java developers are generally split into two teams of 4 developers with each sub-team being devoted to a project. On a particular project each team is supplemented by business analysts, quality assurance analysts and database specialists. As well as the on shore group the team may include a number of out sourced off shore personnel.

We practice an agile, scrum-like, approach with an emphasis on continuously improving the engineering process through project sprint retrospectives and more general development forums.
