Senior Development Manager
Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) is storage for the Internet. Amazon S3 provides a simple web services interface that can be used to store and retrieve any amount of data, at any time, from anywhere on the web. It gives any developer access to the same highly scalable, reliable, secure, fast, inexpensive infrastructure that Amazon uses to run its own global network of web sites. The service aims to maximize benefits of scale and to pass those benefits on to developers.
We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Development Manager to lead a highly skilled team of software developers to expand our service and manage our rapidly increasing scale in the face of explosive customer growth. Cloud computing represents a fundamental shift in how businesses think about managing their information needs. While this emerging area of computing has seen tremendous growth over the past five years, we are still in the early stages of realizing its full potential. We're looking for a smart, passionate and visionary leader to help us define this exciting new technology.
The ideal candidate is excited about the incredible opportunity that cloud computing represents, and is passionate about delivering high quality services in a hyper-growth environment where priorities can shift fast. The leader we are looking for will bring proven experience building, managing, and mentoring engineering teams. Experience with using, and especially operating web-based services is a plus.
- Be technically adept in software development and experienced in the processes around it
- Be experienced in using various software development methodologies
- Have a proven track record of shipping high quality software on time
- Have a passion for people management and mentorship
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrate proven technical leadership
- Possess strong analytical skills, with excellent problem solving abilities
- Have a minimum of 8 years of software development plus at least 3 years spent in a leadership/management role
- Have experience with distributed systems
- Have a degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field
