Senior Director – Audit, Retirement & IFS recruitment
Overview
This position will support the Retirement and Individual Financial Services businesses (RIFS). RIFS encompasses all aspects of business development, sales and service offerings of the firm's pension products, and annuities to institutional and individual clients, and interacts frequently with retirement plan sponsors and benefits consultants. It also includes the Education Savings line of business which offers 529 college savings plans and manages both the plans and the relationships with the states. RIFS offers a broad range of product and advice solutions to support individuals in their retirement planning and wealth management needs.
The ideal candidate will have subject matter expertise in the areas noted above.
Scope Knowledge:
- Demonstrates excellent knowledge of Internal Audit Professional Practices, Risk Management and Internal Controls in the development and implementation of the annual risk-based audit plan and related scheduling and budgeting. Develops plans relative to the implementation of the internal audit function's overall goals and objectives.
- Strong understanding of audit department management and administration.
- Will have responsibility for providing internal audit support for a sizeable portion of the business operations of the organization or may provide functional leadership on a specific aspect of internal auditing or both.
- Provides input into strategy setting and policy development impacting company-wide issues.
- Uses research, professional experience, emerging risks, and past audit reports to determine areas of priority for internal audit review.
- Requires in-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) of the Institution of Internal Auditors (IIA), Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP), Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements, controls frameworks, and financial services operations.
- Experience in performing IT integrated audits and knowledge in using data analytics to support audit engagements.
- Evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of the internal controls and ensures compliance with regulatory guidelines firm-wide. Oversees audits and participates in key advisory projects. Strong written and verbal communication skills to deliver high quality, actionable feedback to client management on control issues and potential solutions to close gaps.
Job Complexity:
- Responsible for providing input in helping to set strategic direction, leadership and management of the Corporate Internal Audit Function, and helping to improve efficiency, effectiveness and productivity.
- Consistently works with abstract ideas or situations within specific areas of a business unit. Through performance of risk assessment, identifies and evaluates fundamental operations and control issues, providing strategy and direction to attain compliance with control design and audit requirements across the organization.
- Has direct impact on the organization's ability to function competitively in a complex and changing environment and financial markets. Participates in corporate development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs and people. Ensures budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements. Exercises judgment in determining risk assessment and audit methods, techniques and approaches for obtaining results. Must also have the following demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of and skill in applying internal auditing principles and practices.
- Considerable knowledge of the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and the Code of Ethics developed by The Institute of Internal Auditors.
- Considerable knowledge of SME area/industry program policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
