The College Board, a national educational organization, is conducting a search for a Senior Director, Finance and Operations for our SpringBoard Department, to be resident in the College Board's New York City headquarters.
Position Summary
The Senior Director, SpringBoard Finance, Operations, and Planning is accountable for the effective leadership of the day-to-day operations and finances including systems, cost management, manufacturing/production, business planning and projects. Working with the Vice President of Springboard, the Senior Director will develop, implement and improve processes leveraging corporate functions to allow the unit's staff to focus on streamlining operations to scale the business unit most cost effectively. In addition, s/he will direct financial analysis / planning, contracts, and account services in close collaboration with regional staff.
Responsibilities
- Lead all program operations and systems to ensure smooth day-to-day running of the program, including program management, sales cycle, budgets, revenue and vendor contracts, invoicing, and continuously drive policy and process improvements to enhance product efficiency.
- Work with the VP of Springboard and administration to streamline processes, leveraging College Board functions to ensure that program resources can be focused optimally.
- Manage product development operations, project management staff and account service activities in close collaboration with regional staff.
- Work collaboratively with the Executive Directors of Product Development and Product Management to provide guidance and direction in order to collect, analyze and synthesize market intelligence, competitive analysis, and secondary research related to SpringBoard's product line strategy and business model.
- Oversee business analysis and reporting activities. Manage the budget activities including the analysis and creation of an annual fiscal year budget. Works with the budget director in preparing monthly budget reviews and resolves outstanding questions / issues.
- Key contributor to the strategic program evaluation and translation of recommendations to set up the unit for the next growth phase and continued success.
- Oversee on-going business analysis reporting activities, incl. weekly tracking and monthly status reports.
- Provide day-to-day leadership to direct reports.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required, graduate degree preferred.
7+ years experience managing operations, financial management business planning.
Experience in process redesign, financial modeling, and policy development a plus.
Experience with change management efforts, within a K-12 preferred.
7+ years of progressively responsible work experience in a professional position in education field.
Requirements
- Project management and supervisory experience required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to staff at all levels of the organization, vendors at all levels of organizations, educators and other constituents.
- Strong analytical ability to gather and synthesize data and market intelligence.
- Ability to understand both big picture strategy and component-level specificity of a plan.
- Well-versed in US K-12 education reform efforts.
- Comfortable with establishing new processes and protocols. Strong planning skills.
- Excellent communication both written and verbal.
- Excellent analytical skills and interest in effective program design strategies.
- Strong customer service orientation
- Some travel required (~10%)
