Senior Director, Human Resources Job in New York 10001, New York US
We have an opportunity available for a Senior Director of Human Resources to join our team. This position may be based in either New York, NY or Stamford, CT and may require some travel back and forth between the two office locations.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
Develop, implement, and drive the people strategy and agenda that meets the Group objectives and the long term strategic vision of the organization. This role will be responsible for leading the HR support for the non-finance group functions which are primarily, Legal, Marketing groups, Real Estate Sourcing.
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
- Member of HR executive team responsible for developing and implementing organizational strategies and plans.
- Partners with the VP, Human Resources to create and drive an effective people strategy, organization model, talent development strategy, and engaged culture.
- Formulates and executes changes that increase organizational effectiveness and/or optimize efficiency, and works with line leaders and appropriate internal or external organizational development support to effectively implement changes to structure or culture, as the organizations needs determine.
- Develops the talent agenda for the Group functions and ensures that the leaders have an effective development program and develop talent at all levels, as well as ensuring that appropriate succession plans are in place for key roles.
- Ensures that compensation policies are in place to attract and retain key talent, and are in alignment with corporate programs and policies.
- Develops an effective employee value proposition and ensures the use of best practice approaches and tools to attract the right talent for the organization.
- Ensures that line leaders are effectively and proactively managing staff performance. Facilitates appropriate response to serious performance issues.
- Develops the appropriate HR organizational model for the Group HR service delivery model. Manages HR staff to ensure that managers are provided the right level of support and that HR programs and processes are effectively implemented.

- Business, HR, or relevant university degree; Advanced degree preferred
- Prior experience in supporting senior business/functional leaders
- Significant experience as a senior HR leader, ideally on a global or multi-country basis
- Travel 25-30% on average
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge and ideally experience in managing all aspects of HR - recruitment, compensation, learning and development, organizational development and change, talent development
- Understanding of cultural differences and their impact on how business is conducted
- Effective management skills including developing and mentoring staff
- Strong financial and business acumen
- Effective oral and written communication skills when dealing with management and employees at various organization levels, including senior management
- Strong coaching, influencing and negotiating skills
- Ability to collaborate and work across a large, diverse, and matrixed organization
- Ability to deal with ambiguous and fluid situations
