Senior Director of Human Resources Job in Houston 77002, Texas US
- Lead the delivery of HR processes and services that meet quality standards established by best practices, company policy, and internal customers, with a focus on pay, benefits, employee and labor relations, performance management, training, development, safety and legal compliance.
- Proactively consult with business leaders to determine workforce needs and align HR services to have the greatest impact on the organization.
- Partner with HR Leadership in the development and establishment of HR strategies to ensure the alignment with key business goals and overall organization strategies.
- Build, manage and develop a world-class HR team to drive positive employee relations and a customer focused HR culture. Manage the performance of direct reports to maximize organizational impact and efficiency.
- Oversee the implementation of a comprehensive recruiting strategy and plans to support the region’s business needs and objectives.
- Identify competency, knowledge, and talent gaps and develop specific training and development programs to address such gaps.
- Develop and implement training for new hires, succession planning and career development for existing employees.
- Act as senior level advisor and provide technical expertise on HR issues to staff and senior level leaders within the region.
- Must have a BS/BA in Business or HR related field, advanced degree preferred
- Requires 10 to 15 plus years progressively responsible field HR management and generalist experience in a multi-state environment with at least 5 years experience at the Executive level.
- Demonstrate ability to effectively lead a large staff of direct reports, supporting a large multi-state workforce.
- Experience in a union environment is critical.
- Current working knowledge of employment law and regulations including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO/AAP, Workers Compensation, unemployment and labor relations.
- Must demonstrate working knowledge of current best practices in Human Capital Management.
- Must demonstrate working knowledge of job evaluation and compensation processes.
- Must demonstrate project management skills and approach.
- Experience working with executive leadership, providing coaching feedback, demonstrating courage in taking a stand and the ability to influence required.
- Comfort with ambiguity and creating something new, something that does not currently exist.
- Ability to effectively lead change.
- Requires working knowledge of MS Office Suite 2007 or higher (including Word, Excel, Power Point).
- SPHR or PHR certification or evidence of acquiring certification a plus.
- Must be able to travel overnight stays.
- Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills appropriate for all levels of an organization.
- Must demonstrate ability to influence and educate clients on policy and best practices.
