Senior Director – Product Strategy and Information Architecture recruitment
The Senior Director, Product Strategy and Information Architecture is a leadership role in terms of people and also the technology strategy and stewardship for Platts.
The role will focus on three key purposes which are interconnected.
- Responsible for the design and oversight of the technology landscape within Platts which will enable our systems business products, which includes determining through research what the future state digital strategy should be to enable our longer term business strategy and how our current landscape must evolve to meet the business needs. This function will be the "design authority" for new application development to ensure new applications are built in the context of the future technology strategy.
- Accountable for developing a technology strategy for our Market Data Products working closely with business product development to design technology solutions to drive towards market leadership in Market Data products.
- Accountable for the analysis and redesign of our information data architecture and ensuring that our data model is evolved to meet our business future needs.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a Digital technology strategy for Platts business needs taking our current state situation and exploring emerging technology to establish a future state plan and a road map. Advise the business and Technology teams on the digital growth strategy. Lead analysis of technology industry and market trends to determine their potential usage and impact on Platts business. Also provide detailed input to the budget planning assumptions for the Platts technology budget to ensure that each budget is making appropriate provision technology development
- Provide guidance on technology solutions and be the "design authority" for new solutions development and ensure compliance with enterprise standards while leveraging advances in technology and innovations. Engage with Segment and Enterprise Architecture as necessary to ensure smooth passage of project development work.
- Provide oversight and leadership to deliver a Market Data Product Strategy working with business product development to design technology solutions to establish market leadership
- Provide oversight and leadership to review the current Information Data model for Market Data and Customer Data and drive improvement and develop a plan to establish a Master Reference Data framework to optimize Platts data and enable delivery of business strategy long term (15%)
- Communicate the technology strategy and roadmap to the business and technology teams and articulate the value. Promote innovative use of technology to increase value to the Platts business
- Provide leadership to the strategy and information architecture team
- Establish processes for technology governance within the technology group
- Manage the Expense Budget for the Product Strategy Information Architecture team and also manage performance and development for the team
Skills
Required:
- Significant experience in Technology with digital information systems design
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or information management or similar suitable discipline.
- Experience in a leadership role
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and excellent listening skills and the ability to apply the knowledge gained effectively
- Strong presentation skills and the ability to communicate at all levels of an organisation to executive level and can present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent and proven negotiation skills and meeting facilitation at senior levels
- Ability to work in a complex and changing environment
- Innovative in respect of service quality and ways in which it can be improved within the bounds of the organisation
- Willingness to travel to various locations as needed
- Solid Information Management Business Relationship Management Experience with a strong customer orientation.
- Although not directly responsible to staff, excellent leadership capability is critical to gaining respect of customers and the role will involve leading teams and influencing other leaders.
- In-depth knowledge of designing and implementing digital information solutions
- Understanding of, common information architecture frameworks, structure data modeling techniques, metamodels,
- Ability to balance the long term big picture and short term implications of individual decisions
- Ability to translate business needs into technology requirements and to estimate the financial impact of the technology alternatives so that business benefit decisions can be made
- Broad and Deep technical knowledge required
- Ability to communicate technology plan to non-technical people and be unflappable in the face of opposition
- Strong Influence skills
Preferred:
- Master's degree preferred.
- Experience in a similar Market Data company with Digital products would be highly preferred
- Domain knowledge of Commodities business or Market Data business highly desirable
- Regulatory Compliance experience an advantage
- Understanding of technology methods including Agile Scrum
