Queensland Treasury Corporation (QTC) is the Queensland Government’s central financing authority and corporate treasury services provider, providing cost-effective debt funding, financial risk management services and short-term investment facilities to its Queensland public sector clients.
An opportunity now exists for an Economist to join our client team. Reporting to a client Group General Manager, the key responsibilities of this role include:
- Obtaining and using information from a range of Government and external sources, and providing this information to QTC’s clients
- providing and presenting reports, research and forecasts on current economic matters to internal and external stakeholders, which covers a range of liability and investment management, advisory, risk and other activities
- providing economic information to support QTC’s client-related activities, including financial sustainability reviews, annual credit reviews and investment reviews for major projects, and
- developing relationships with external partners to gather the most timely and relevant economic information.
The successful candidate will have relevant tertiary qualifications with a minimum of five years’ experience as an economist, including macroeconomics, and preferably gained within a large public or private organisation.
To achieve success in our client-focused operating environment, you will have excellent communication (verbal and written) and influencing skills, as well as the ability to develop strong relationships. A sound knowledge and understanding of the factors influencing the Australian and international financial markets is also desirable.
